looking to buy one of these for under £100..........is this about the best around at the moment?
I'm not too up on specs and things, they don't really mean much to me! :|

If this is the best then I'll go for it!

No they are in China. They are slow to deliver but stuff does arrive and the stuff I have bought from them has been better than expected but it has only been small items, nothing as techie/ expensive as this.

dealextreme is good for low value purchases, but for higher value items you will get hit with import taxes etc.
plus support etc will be nil.

dealtime has fair product reviews on the website so have a look I find them very good although i have not bought anything big

If you are intending to download loads of Android Market apps to this device, then I'm not sure it's such a good buy. Basically these things are the same as Android phones. I have a T-Mobile Pulse. It's an ok phone but it too only has 256k of memory. Once Android 2.1 is loaded up, you have very little free memory (approx 60k?) to play with. Yes you have a SD card in it but unless you instal a customised rom that does Apps2SD, you can't use this for storing apps. I won't get one of these cheap tablets until I see one with 512k of memory.

Are you speaking about the ram, which is 256MB. This has 2GB of storage for apps...

My dad just bought one of these (pretty sure same model) and it is pretty bad. I would save your money and put it towards one of the more expensive but reliable devices. Or wait for the competition to hot up and prices to drop...

No, set fire to eight tenners and at least you will benefit from their energy value.

Would love one of these things for Iplayer round the house, ie do the washing up, just take the tablet with you, or bath, or bed.

So, are they any good for Iplayer? I don't mind it taking a minute to navigate to the web-site etc but could it play the video well and would the battery last an hour or 2 doing so?#

Thanks.

This one does not support flash, so iPlayer is a no go!

OH!! THANKS!

Might end up with a cheap netbook, just like the idea of it being so light an easy to move around. I have a laptop that I use at the moment but the battery won't last the length of the gadget show and it's a pain to move it around and find somewhere for it to fit. Tablet could just rest against the wall or somethink.

TBH, the San Fran is a better way in most ways. But if you do want something big (but no clearer), this is for you.
#27
Of course it supports iplayer although not natively. Google beeb player or sky fire browser.
#28
just watched the video funny think i will go for the san francisco lol

This Made in China knock off imitation stuff usually tends to be crap and unreliable. Seems fine spec wise but the reality is very different.....

How you going to return it if it malfunctions?

User error? Android is fantastic. For a tablet you would prob want to hold out for the tablet oriented version of Android (Gingerbread?), 2.1 is designed for mobiles. Yeah it'll work on a tablet, but it won't be the best of experiences.
#31
Shaun this is a tablet PC the San Fran is a mobile - hardly comparable

Guys, it's going to be rubbish, for everything from video to displaying a PDF

Android 2.1 judders on a 1ghz £400+ device...
You do the math.
Save your money for a good Android device, or bite the bullet and get an iPad.
#33
Stu tablet version of android is honey comb btw
#34
Not worth half a tenner

I was under the impression that sky fire won't work with our iplayer, as sky fire uses US servers to convert the video. The BBC will block this, as will 4od, seesaw, etc?!
#37
Plus I VERY seriously doubt this will run sky fire, or indeed even local video to any degree of acceptable standard.

It will run SkyFire, as the similar speced Disgo Tablet does. But, you are right in the US servers thing - at least you were for when I was using it on my Nokia S60. However, when iPlayer goes worldwide and international this shoudln't be a problem...

Gonna buy this, but are deal extreme in the US???

Hi, Deal Extreme are based in Hong Kong , most of the goods they sell are fake, i bought a ps3 controller, it looks the part but its not all that great but it only cost £14 so i guess i got what i paid for. These controllers are almost twice as much in most shops in england etc...i would stay clear, but thats just my opinion,if your gonna risk buying the purchase i would pay via paypal as they have an excellent service in that you can file a dispute against deal extreme if your are unhappy with the product or if it even fails to arrive at your door. Theres an option to escalate the claim straight away in which paypal act on your behalf and almost do all the hard work and will almost defo get your money back if your not happy with your purchase. this is just my opinion from my own experience and my intentions are to help people and not to upset any deal extreme customers

The screen is resistive so really poor the guy who complained he has just bought a advent vega you should be really happy cos this is **** compared to it (even if it is 3 x more)..
YOU ONLY GET WOT U PAY 4.
