Great price for this 90% efficient card.

Can't find it cheaper anywhere else - ebuyer has it for ~£80.

Good luck trying to return it, if it goes faulty.

I would rather pay the extra and shop at a decent place.

Scan took 2 weeks to replace an item that went fault and then refused to refund postage of 5.00. if though fault was proven. I was out of pocket.

Return under the DSR (distance selling regulations)

Seller is liable for return costs of an unwanted item within 7 days.

Whether it's faulty is irrelevant.

After 7 days, it's reasonable to have to pay return costs. It's the price of buying online.

They're also doing the 750W Coolermaster RS750 for £56.39, would that be a better bet if you're not bothered about modular?

I've ordered from Scan before and had no problems whatsoever with the products so haven't experienced their returns, but if you read the comments on this site, pretty much every computer site has a bad returns policy!

The modular one here will be better quality all-round I imagine, it is a more premium model. When you get to these sort of wattages you probably want to go with a decent model. Having said that, CoolerMaster are usually decent.

Probably boils down to whether you mind having a load of redundant wires in your case or not...

You couldn't be more wrong.

Under Distance Selling Regulations, the buyer is responsible for returning the item and paying associated costs. The seller will only have to issue a refund for the item and the initial postage (if any).

It's when you return a faulty item within 30 days or so that the seller has to refund all costs of replacement (or full refund). That, I think, is covered by SOGA.

90% efficiency at full load (780W input) is a pretty good result if you ask me. I wonder how quiet this PSU is.

Had a couple of bad dealings with faulty products from Scan also. Shame as it's a good deal.

Used to swear by scan but this past year I've had several faulty items from them and some grey imports as well; as a result, I've stopped using them.

Fantastic PSU though, just bought one myself a few weeks ago (from ebuyer).

chipsngravy - how quiet is the PSU? Does it give off any noticable noise or whine - say much more than your average woman?

Cannot comment on Scan's return experience by post. I always drop in and the staffs in store are very helpful. Returned a half broken mice (but still working), got exchanged in 5 mins 8)

Scan are a brilliant online retailer imo, i have had a few complete systems off them without any aggro at all. (3 RMA's too). Sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience but i don't think your opinion is truely representatative. As far as the PSU is concerned, looks alright, persoanlly i would pay a bit more and fit Corsair, but its only personal preference.

I've been dealing with scan on a weekly basis for 16 years and never had a problem with returns or warranty issues. I can't fault them unlike some other online retailers I could mention.

Not true, customer is liable for postage costs for returning an unwanted item under DSRs provided this is stated in the T & Cs, which I suspect Scan have covered. If it's faulty then Scan are liable for return costs.

Its quiet, but not silent. Obviously, there is a fan noise there when you put your ear to it, but you'd never hear it over the CPU/case fans anyway, unless you turned everything else off - and even then it would be quiet :)

I've had two high-end Corsair PSUs (Seasonic units) blow up on me in the past 4 years, which is why I didn't want another of theirs. Time will tell as to how reliable this one is, but so far I'm very impressed; and the power figures speak for themselves.

To clarify: Distance Selling Regulations allow you to return any product for any reason. Normally, this means you can return unopened items just because you don't want them, or return opened items if they are 'not fit for purpose', i.e. of poor quality. In both these cases, you are liable for return postage and the seller is usually only liable for the item cost.

However, sellers are responsible for reimbursement of all costs, including shipping both ways, of faulty items. The line between fitness for purpose and faultiness is often a bit grey.

Does anyone know how this, or the 600w version(£63.59) one compare to 'Antec True Power New 650w'(£59.98)? In turns of noise, this one does have a larger fan.
