Dell says it is the biggest offer of the year as they are giving £75 off any refurbished computer purchased from Dell Outlet.

On top of that, you get free delivery as well as a free bag with their laptops.

Note that the discounts apply only to Dell Outlet Inspiron Laptops and Dell Dimension Desktop Systems.

The inventory is used on a "first-come, first served" basis and changes rapidly; in fact you have to buy any computers within 10 minutes of adding them to your basket or they will be removed.

Dell UK Outlet can be found http://outlet.dell.com/Emea_Dfo/EuDispatcher?country=GBR&target=InventoryPage&lob_constraint=INSP here.

They are selling an Inspiron 1525 laptop (System Identifier. Z2RWELG8) for only £306.98 including VAT, delivery and a free bag.

That laptop is an Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 running at 2GHz with Vista Home Premium, 2GB memory, a huge 160GB hard disk drive and a 6-cell battery.

Price is actually £410.02 Del

Does anyone know what's the warranty like with these Outlet systems? Collect & Return? Next Business Day? What sort of duration, too? And can you buy upgraded warranties?

Warranty is the same as the new version, so for most Inspirons collect & return, Vostros, Latitudes are next business day. But all warranties are upgradeable to next business day or can be extended when the 1 year runs out. Just watch out for the Inspiron 1501 if still available as only has 90 day collect and return. If unsure just check for the same model on Dell's website for new and the same warranty applies. Voted hot.

Also works with Inspiron Desktops.
There are some cheap Inspiron 530 deals as well; £179 delivered for E4500 2.2GHz, 3GB DDR2-800, 500GB, Vista HP, DVD combo drive.

Got myself a 0GWZBPM8 (Inspiron 1525 Celeron 550 2.0Ghz) at a smidge under £300 including VAT, delivered, and with a free case. Not quite as good at in the first post, but still a damn good deal as far as I'm concerned! People must be snapping them up fast, tho, as the current cheapest system is four hundred...

I had a poor experience with outlet returns.
I rang up under DSR as I was not happy with my M1330 as it was extremely loud and hot (my fault really went for a high spec 2.5ghz beast). Was finally put through to tech support, not CS, who made me go through a charade of reinstalling the exact same bios revision (which obviously didn't work). Then was put on hold and told, that I was a business customer and couldn't return under the 7 day money back. This is after I had selected Home on the checkout, used my home address, etc. (I checked the generated invoice from the account manager, and it seems she had craftily put my name twice in the address field - i.e. as a business name too, even though at checkout I had selected Home).
Luckily the tech guy was good about it (I think it's because of those surveys they send to you after the call, I read it's logged against their permanent record for promotions) and said he would do me a "Goodwill Gesture" and pick up the laptop for refund. He said the CS guy was being awkward, so he had to do my refund this way.

Moral of the story: Dell sucks, especially the outlet.

They solved your problem, so what's the problem? Plenty of "home" customers go for the business deals in any event, which they allow.

Dell are pretty good and are better than most.

It's some of their customers who can be a bit difficult:p

I will rephrase- I shoulda expected a Dell to be noisy and hot with such a high spec.
I didn't like the way they were accusing me of being a business customer just to get out of refunding me, i.e. deception and fraud.
I only got my refund after fighting for half an hour on the phone.
Maybe I should take my lumps from corporate thugs like a good little docile timid customer lol.

"Corporate thugs"

Anyone would think that they mugged you:whistling:

DSR is a PITA for any organisation and the cost of it is borne by everyone else in higher prices. Thus to remain price competitive, companies are justifiably using tactics to discourage people from simply ordering stuff and then sending it back under DSR 'cos they don't like it or have changed their minds. If there is something wrong with it, that's another matter.

It should be applauded by us more reasonable punters 'cos it helps keep prices down:p

Not a mugging, more of an unprovoked attack :-D
I didn't buy it to try, but I read the reviews etc and this machine seemed to be obviously faulty/defective. I didn't want to run the risk of having months of repairs to no avail if it was a inherent bug with the model, so took the sensible option to rightfully take my money elsewhere. Maybe this was the reason the machine ended up in the outlet to begin with?
At the end of the day lying through your teeth is not a justifiable tactic in my eyes, and I won't shed a tear for Michael Dell and his shareholders having to follow the law of the land (no matter how much it is a PITA for them).

Cold - I got a decent spec 1525 a few months back for £250 delivered.....far better deal.

That was a freakishly cheap deal so waiting for another one that good might prove futile.

I am soooooooooo tempted by this. I've got an Inspiron XPS M1530 sitting in my basket, and for £457 delivered, I can get the following specs:

2.0GHz Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM
200GB HDD (7,200RPM)
256MB GeForce 8600 GT
1680 x 1050 15.4" screen
2MP camera
9-cell battery
Vista Home Premium

I'm really touch and go on whether or not to buy this... I just got a new Vostro 1500 about 6 months ago and am not sure if I could justify shelling out for this! However, I could probably recoup about £400 quid on my Vostro, which would mean almost getting this for free...

Decisions, decisions... Aargh!
#30
Don't let it sit too long 'cos they take it out again quite quickly if you're inactive on the site

Excellent spec for the money. You’d have to have a good spec Vostro 1500 to get £400 for it; what do you have?
#32
Dammit!

I just updated my basket, and it's gone! I wasn't inactive for anywhere near 15 minutes - what the **** has happened?

Commiserations as that happened to me once and it’s a drag when you have a particularly good deal as you did. 15 minutes is not gauranteed for sure.
#37
same just happened to me on another one :(
#38
Yep don't hang about.

If you snaffle a really good deal you may be better off buying it and then cancelling the transaction a little later if you have second thoughts. Even that can be a bit risky if they get ultra fast with shipping - you may find that you have the machine before you know it!!

My XPS 420 took about a week before they actually processed the transaction so I would have had plenty of time if I'd changed my mind the next day.
#39
I couldn’t resist buying this:

XPS M1330 CORE 2 DUO T7250 2.00GHZ, 800, 2MB
13.3" WXGA (1280X800) DISPLAY WITH TRUELIFE
VISTA HOME PREMIUM SP1
MEMORY DUAL CHANNEL 3.0GB (1X2GB + 1X1GB)
HARD DRIVE 160GB FREE FALL SENSOR (7200RPM)
PRIMARY 6-CELL 56WHR LI-ION BATTERY
INTEL INTEGRATED GMA X3100
INTEL NEXT-GEN WIRELESS-N MINI-PCI CARD
EUROPEAN - DELL TRUEMOBILE 355 INTERNAL

£410.23 delivered.

It was first shipped to a customer on June 14th so it’s not been round the houses.
#40
Hey how do you tell when it was first shipped??

Got myself a bargain Inspiron 1525, core2duo t5500, 2gb, 7200rpm fast fall sensor 120gb hard drive and the 1440x900 screen for £303 notes :-D
