Just a warning, Command & Conquer 4 completely sucks, it's not like any other C&C game, and this is a bad thing in this case.
I'd recommend C&C: Red Alert 3 out of this lot.

Nice one for the recommendation. I heard C&C4 was a pile in attempt to compete with Warhammer and StarCraft... but utterly failed!

Thanks :)

C&C 4 requires a persistent internet connection as well.

Im leaning towards Tiberian Twilight at the moment simply based off the fact its the only one I have confirmed co op for and I want to play it with my wife, can anybody here confirm whether Tiberian Wars does/doesn't have a co op mode please? (that being the one I am most interested in).

C&C4 is a load of ****. I thought I got a bargain when Argos was selling it for £6. I feel like I got ripped of and Argos should paid me £6 to take it of them.

C&C 3 Kanes Wrath and Twilight are really good. Am going to buy Red Alert 3 in a minute thank you.

ordered red alert 3, cheapest price around. thanks

is 4 really that bad?

No. Its actually ok, and will be very dependent on what sort of games you like.
If you love building bases, and harvesting tiberium then you will not like it. If you like squad based games like Warhammer then you will like it. Its very smooth running. EA made it online only in an attempt to drive out piracy which is depressingly rife on the PC platform. (Go read VGChartz, it paints a dark picture for PC gaming). But I got 4 on a steam deal at Christmas, and got many hours of fun out of it. This hate is also felt on Supreme Commander, and people hate on Sup Com 2 as they feel its "dumbed down", but what it actually means is that the interface is slicker to navigate therefore the hardcore geeks don't have such an advantage. I prefer accessibility personally. Hardly a risk at less than 4 quid is it?

Ordered Red Alert 3 also, bargain price cheers....

Command and Conquer 3 is the best, Kanes Wrath just as good and C&C 4 is a pile of rubbish, didn't think much of Red Alert 3 either.
#20
Good prices, may get Red Alert 3 - Uprising & c&c 4 as a punt, kanes wrath requires the steam version of red alert 3 unfortunately i've got the boxed version! doh

Looking forward to playing Red Alert 3 now - Red Alert 2 was an absolutely fab game and if it's even anything like it I will be a happy bunny!

Alas, I imagine there will be no Yuri... :(

I swear you used to be able to dl RA and RA2 free from their website...seem to have stopped that now they've released "Command & Conquer: The First Decade" the new ones are alright but its just not the same without the original horrific soviet/american accents! Avoided C&C4 after reading amazon reviews... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Command-Conquer-Tiberian-Twilight-DVD/dp/B002CZQ4Z6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1298587350&sr=8-1

RA2 was never free, but C&C Gold and Red Alert were. http://forums.commandandconquer.com/jforum/posts/list/6967.page

Want to buy Tiberium Wars but never used steam before and doesn't mention whether online/lan multiplayer is included...anyone know about this?

Lovely, why bring up piracy on a steam deal? Valve even said they made soo much profit that piracy isn't an issue for them, and Steam is only on PC/Mac. Pc Gaming is here to stay, just EA and Crapivision will bleat how much better the console platform is when in reality piracy is about the same there too.

Is RA3: Uprising worth getting? It gets slated on Gamespot.

Is RA3 or C&C3 the better game?

Thanks.

Red Alert 2 was the best by a mile.

Red Alert 3 is alright but a little cartoony for my liking. Just bought Uprising so cheers OP.

Also just reserved C&C 4 from Argos for £4.99... Prefer to have the physical game than digital download for £1.24 more.

Might be cack, but I've still gotta give it a go.

you missed that, I had Morrowind GOTY for a couple of quid a few months back... already owned all the disc's from when it was first released, but at that price and being one of my favorite games ever thought I would dump it on my laptop and not require cd's.

C&C 3: Tiberium Wars is the best pick out of those; has a long campaign and is just what you'd expect from a C&C game (the expansion Kane's Wrath is also worth a look).

Excellent deals anyway regardless of which you go for :)

Totally agree. They are the two I would recommend.
Never really got anywhere with the campaign as I enjoy playing Skirmish with A.I turtles that let me build a nice base X)

C&C3 ran reasonably well on my old laptop (1.66ghz Core Duo 'T2300', dedicated ATI X1600, 2gb RAM). It's four and a half years old now...
However the difference between that and my current desktop was astonishing.

What GPU does your laptop have?

Yea Kanes wrath had the balancing just about perfected, although wasn't as stable for multiplayer as vanilla C&C3 was sadly. Good map editing community expands this a lot too

Personally I loved Uprising, since it added the 100 level challenge mode, sorta like the one off Generals, sadly no mutiplayer at all. As for best multi? well C&C3 is faster spamming and larger unit caps, Red Alert 3 is more micromanaging due to the much lower income from fixed mining buildings compared to C&C3's gem wealthy amounts of fields, but RA3 does have co-op campaign multi... at that price, buy both...lol
