He told me it's a 12 month contract. They're calling me back on Thursday so will double check. They said it's to celebrate 25 years as a company.

That'd be ok. No issues with trying to get it every year!

So annoying that these deals are out there. Been with sky for as long as I remember and never had a single call from them offering me a discount. I've got tv, broadband, line rental and am a sky bet customer.

Wish there was a decent alternative cos I could threaten to walk away but in reality there's no way I will.

Dam, I was just about to post this. I got this deal installed on Sunday. I got the complete package, family, HD, multiscreen, sports, movies, sky go... the lot for £26 a month.

Word of advice, if you get multi screen, get him to feed two cables to your second sky box. The one they supply only takes one and doesn't have record functionality, but you can pick up a Sky+ HD box from ebay for about £30.

Great deal, really happy with it... and the Premiership hasn't even started yet. Not looking forward to cancelling after 12 months (11 really, you have to give them a month's notice. Put a reminder in your calendar!)

Reduce your spending with sky then? Get BT broadband and phone (same price props) and then u get get free bt sports for your sky tv box ;)

I've been bonus banned from sky... wonder if they'll ring me?

wow how do I get this. im a sky bet user and don't have sky!!!

The annoying thing about Sky is the HD charge - IIRC you can't just pay the £5.25 per month HD fee, to get HD you also need to have the 'Family' bundle (£32 as opposed to £21.50 'Original' bundle) + the HD fee.

Ie £15.75 extra per month (though you do get the goodies of the Family bundle - box sets, etc.)

So given that, I would, personally, go for Family bundle (£32) + Sports (£22) + Movies (£8 ) + HD (£5.25) = £67.25.

Also - I have a feeling Sky don't discount the HD bundle, so the total cost would be £20.75 per month as opposed to £16.81 if they did.

Any which way - 75% off is a great deal and I'm very tempted myself, despite my annoyance at Sky's HD scam.

Anyone know what the requirement is re SkyBet? Ie. if I just opened an account today, would that tick the box?

Grrr.. yet another fantastic new customer deal... leaving us poor existing customers feeling ripped off.

Eight years as a Sky customer, I have never paid more than 50% for Sky TV. On many occasions I've recevied 75% off.

I've never haggled particularly hard, I just cancel when my contract is up, and they give me a ring after a couple of days with an offer.

Currently enjoying 50% off and free fibre broadband for a year.

Great deal, BTW.

Just ring them up and "cancel" it. This works all the time - I do it regularly. As recently as last week, I cancelled and they gave me 35% off the package for a year. Just ring up, tell them you want to cancel, they'll ask why, you say it's too expensive, then they'll either offer you money off there and then or process your cancelaation. They rang me back within 3-4 days and offered the reduced price. It's a sure-fire winner

same bill as i have been on for the last 10 months, first year had moneysavingexpert code 50% off. i got sky broadband at the same time aswell, rang to leave with a month's notice, didn't answer any stupid sky phone calls after that, then rang them on the final evening of my contract. I said what can you offer me, and i refused the first offer. they came back and said £10.87 for sky basic entertainment and sky sports £10.87. i said do i have to keep my broadband, they said no, so i moved that, and I could add movies for £2 a month, which i did.no hd tho.

Might be hard to resist if I get the call. Good deal.

I just called and they said no they don't offer this deal. They kept asking if I received an email with the offer. Did you get e-mails about it?

Is there a monthly line rental to pay on top of this? (do I have to change phone providers?).

I've never had a discount as big as 75% but it ALWAYS works to get some discount. I've done it about 6 times. I know people who have done it, friends, etc. I don't know anyone who hasn't got money off. Make sure you cancel the whole TV package though, not just a component of it. Eg, I cancelled my sports and they never rang me to offer it cheaper. I don't want it anyway so I'm not fussed. The other thing is that the offer I have now, the 35% off, I can add the sports at any time and that element too will be subject to the 35% discount.

Apparently not. I was told Sky stopped charging line rental 5 months ago as you no longer need it to use their TV service.

Whenever you want to haggle/negotiate a price, always bear in mind the cost model of the business. Sky would literally have no extra costs when someone joins (cost of box, dish and installation is peanuts for them due to the scale of installations) and even less costs when someone upgrades packages (literally just need to click a few buttons on a pc once). Given the relatively little to no cost incurred for them, they would be foolish to not negotiate a deal with you, as anything you pay is making them more profitable.

I just called and they said no they don't offer this deal.
I've been a customer for 9 days and was advised to call back near my 30 day cancellation date and they will offer me something new.

HA just spoke with them. never heard of this but offered 50% for 12 months which I think is pretty standard this time of year

I can sense the naysayers arriving en masse, so before you accuse me of lying, here you are -

All these people complaining they have never been offered any discounts, seriously???? Why would they you are happily giving Sky your money each month. You have to play them off against Virgin and BT to get the deals. Put in the ground work and reep the rewards.

I can't have Sky in my apartment, does not stop me mentioning Sky over and over when i ring Virgin to "cancel". i ring up every 12 months to negotiate. Do the same with Vodafone, they know i am a good customer so why would they want to lose me?

These companies make millions off customers that don't play the game. My current Virgin package is £60+ on the website, never paid more than £50 and got £100 credit to make up for the lack of a tablet they were offering new customers at the time. While £10 may not seem like a lot over 12 months its £120 in my pocket rather than that of Virgin. I have helped so many friends and family members get good discounts with just a couple of calls

Nope, I was just called by Sky this afternoon. They asked for my E-Mail address, and once I hung up, I received an E-Mail where I could complete the transaction - safer than over the phone, I guess.
