Why do people always bring up cheaper 3,5" external drive as a counter offer for 2,5" ones.

You want a portable, fit it in your pocket drive you buy a 2,5" one

Could I take this drive out of caddy and use it to upgrade my acer revo 3700?

Straight....over....your.....head.

It was a joke from a previous thread whereby it was commented that whenever a 2.5" was posted someone would always post a 3.5", the comment about the price was even posted earlier in this very thread.

I apologise for confusing you so much.

Poe's Law strikes again, even a smilie can't tip some people off.

Cold!!

Too much humour in this thread and I don't think people who are not well versed on the crazy workings of the Scan site or the difference in a portable or desktop drive should be classed as IDIOTS.:(

Only kidding of course.;)

oh really? straight over my head oh you got me.
i never knew there was a difference
or anything about the price.
as this is my first day on this site and the first time i have ever looked at a harddrive i never realised such options existed!!!
or that such idiots post in such threads
or that there existed further group of idiots who tried to be funny by intentionally confusing the issue further.
oh... now i get it!!

Going by other hard disks and pen drives, 698GB, give or take.

Whenever a piece of hardware doesn't look like a 1980s calculator or a 90s car modification then it's deemed 'stylish' for actually looking okay.

Is it a Toshiba disk inside these?

Looking them up their MK7559GSXP is 9.5mm tall, if that disk is inside these it would make it suitable for PS3s etc. Also £15 quid more for the bare disk on Dabs.
#32
Ohhh I just signed up AVForums, so, I can't read the thread. help plssss :(
#33
good deal. pity the thread turned into a comedy black hole.

Found a review, his copy test works out at around 20mb/sec, a bit slow, a WD 320gb I had a while back is around 30mb/sec. Though he did review the 250gb version.

http://www.pocket-lint.com/review/3933/toshiba-store-alu-hard-drive

[EDIT] SORRY, it seems that one is an older version, not just a different capacity. This newer one (ALU 2) seems to have a faster spin speed and so is probably a quick as my other disk.

Pictures of the ALU 2 models on Amazon show this has a standard Mini-USB connector and not some custom thing. Amazon pages also state this comes with a two headed USB cable, in case it needs the extra power.
