and:

Unlimited drinks (draught beer and lager, house selection wines and soft drinks), 6-11pm, and unlimited house wine by the glass with dinner

If a night in Clitheroe on your own with five hours of drinking the house wine is your idea of fun then this is a scorching deal.

If I had to go to some of these locations then copious amounts of free alcohol would be the only and very necessary option.

just booked a weekend break for me and the wife last night!!!! gutted!!:x:x

This hotel is very poor if you are thinking of booking. However, Hale is nearby and a nice place to go out.

#10
Would definitely not recommend the Wigan Oak as it is in Wigan.

But a good deal if the other locations are any better.
#11
Check the hotels on Trip Advisor, the few I've already looked at get poor reviews.
#12
northern action. fek that.

these arent "in the north" - positively south as far as I'm concerned :-D

To be fair, you would usually pay £10-20 PP (at least) for a travelodge or similar for 2 nights.

Even if you get £9 rooms, thats £9 per person.

£70 for 2 days worth of breakfast, dinner, leisure use, and unlimited drinks?? Scorching!

Just treat the "hotel" element as a basic room for the night!

I could quite easily do them for more than £70 in drink alone

At the end of the day, do you expect the Hilton for £79 2 nights DB+B?

Hatfield Oak Hotel is pretty south if you ask me, but mind you who would want to go to Hatfield?
#17
seems good deal if you can get it, but ends soon ish............i trid for end of april/may tme toarrangea hen night in swindon, ideal free bar for trips such as this, but their dates dont go up that far. Anyone know if they will be extended?
#18
Foxfields isn't in Clitheroe but around 6-7 miles out in the middle of nowhere really but fantastic countryside all around the Ribble Valley. Mind you, if your getting your money's worth on the ale you won't be in much of a fit state to see any of it!! Voted hot cos its a cracking deal for getting away for a weekend

Southern action....feck that....!!!

Stayed in the Hatfield Oak a few years ago. It was called something else back then, think it was the quality inn. Hotel & Bar were o.k(if you don't mind being next to a motorway), but I remember the food was the worst food I have ever had in a hotel!

So what's so bad about a night out in Clitheroe ?

More to the point ...Foxfields is not in Clitheroe , it's nearer to Blackburn and the nearest bit of life is at least 20 mins walk away !

It will be the Bowden Hotel near Altrincham and Hale (both are walking distance - staggering even)

Errm No, Travelodge prices are for the room not per person

I've booked the Goldthorn Hotel in Wolverhampton for the end of the month. The Trip Advisor comments look reassuring and it sounds like they have now completed a refurbishment which will have addressed some of the earlier reviewers' comments.

And at 11.05pm you get to watch the Northerners fighting because someone from the cast of Shameless ordered 14 pints and 8 glasses of house vinegar at 10.59. Followed by synchronised vomitting.

I'll give it a miss but I'd pay a fiver for access to a webcam in the bar when they pull the shutters down.

Errrr yes, dummy, £9 per room per night, two nights = £18, therefore £9 per person for 2 nights stay.

Hull's not that bad actually. At least there's stuff to do around there and it's by the seaside and the countryside too.

You can't argue that it isn't good value if you fancy a break in any of these locations.

Problem with all of these hotel breaks is that they are typically hotels which businesses use for "off sites", training etc and can be pretty soul-less at weekends and are located in the middle of nowehere. You will also often book a place called BlahBlah Hall and the picture on the website will be of an oak panelled room, four poster, log fire etc but your accomodation will be in a new wing bolted onto the hotel with a 17" telly; heating with two settings boiling and freezing; and a shower which has more pressure when switched off than on. Still I guess you will have eaten and drunk so much, you'll be lucky to make it back to the bedroom!
