Done this trip over 10 times now.
I love the boat trip. Can be a VERY fun time!

I prefer to have a night over in Amsterdam as the 6-8 hours you get there with this trip isn't enough for me.

I went in November, the seas was very very choppy! We did shrooms on the way back though so it was extremely fun. But of course that isn't for everyone :-)

I'm going next month. £190 for a room of 4 so £47.50 each. Hotel we stay in is £25 each. Very cheap and fun trips! Highly recommend it.

Thats waht we do too

Have a night, sometimes two, in Amsterdam.

BTW...if you do that and your hotel just does those silly continental breakfasts, there's a great irish Pub just off the Dam Square that does a awesome irish brerakfast (same as an English but with fried potato added and the sausages are better), and the best pot of tea in the city:)

Have a look at expedia or the such

Decent deals to be had

We tend to go for ones away from the city centre because the public transport there is so good.

Thanks Headingley_Lad, looks like a pretty good offer :)
#19
Not a good offer really, because you only get about 6 hours in Amsterdam - and the £79 will be grossly inflated once you pay for the food onboard --- II paid over £15 just for a breakfast, although it was nice.
#20
Try the Dampring or Blue Dolphins if you want something a bit more psychoactive than a cup of coffee

must admit it gets very cold this time of year in amsterdam.

I went a few years ago, found Amsterdam to be bloody expensive! €5 for a Pint!

I stayed at "The Eden Hotel" (I'm sure when I stayed there last it was a Best Western), it's a little bit of a walk from the train station, but if you don't mind wander around then me and my wife found it great (avid walkers ;D)

Well, Newcastle has been colder than Berlin, Warsaw, Kiev and even Reykjavik this past month. After this winter we should be able to withstand anywhere.

zappster1966's irony was lost on Scunnard !

The pound being a little stronger against the euro should help price wise these days

It was expensive last time were there though because the currencies were almost at parity.

But if you think Amsterdam is expensive...stay away from Norway

If you drink in Dam Square then you will be paying expensive rates for drinks. Cost us 20odd Euros once for 3 drinks. Drink in some of the smaller bars, (there is always one near a coffee shop) and you'll pay better prices.

Amsterdam is very popular with "walkers" ;)

Site looks dodgy!

Watch out for the cyclists. There half a million of them (at least), they come out of nowhere without being seen, and (as far as they are concerned) traffic lights just make pretty coloured patterns.

Whats more, if you get mown down by a marauding pack of them, it'll almost certainly be your fault

I did Portsmouth Bilbao mini cruise last year, was great fun, spotted dolphins and a whale.

Guys who did this trip and stayed overnight (or two) in Amsterdam can you still board with same ticket on the next Ferry?

I think you would need to tell them what you were doing when you booked.
So make it clear you would be coming back a day later, but I don't see why that should be a problem
#32
Do you get a free coffee shop voucher?
#33
£10.50 for a coke and a pint of larger
£32 for fish and chips
£8 for a breakfast consisting of 1 roll, 1 piece of cheese and 1 piece of ham. oooh plus butter.

On board prices just far too expensive for me. Plus when we went we only got 1.5 hours in dam as the boat was broken and receiving attention mid crossing.

Never again.

Been a few times, great fun as long as you don't suffer from seasickness.
Try Stugeron (available from chemists) if you do. Best remedy i've found.
Amsterdam is a real eye opener, with the red light district and the coffee shops.
Great museums and of course, Anne Franks house is a must see.
Plenty to do and see

Just checked their site and it's 32 euros for all you can eat buffet dinner and 14 euros for all you can eat breakfast

Excellent food and plenty of it.

You can save a fair bit by pre booking the meals though which we always do
#36
wow a his n hers romantic pot smoking sessions.... great price!!!! Not sure if anyones wives/gf would like to visit any of the "museums" or take a tour of the red light district
#37
do you know if you can buy 2 tickets for 2 separate dates, as i would like to stay for more than a few hours?

I live a couple of miles from the north shields terminal & done this trip few times plus longer "Truckers" trips & have always had a good time but remember at this time year there is always a "hooli" blowing so you are pretty much guaranteed a roughish crossing so don't indulge in the quaffing of copius amounts of ale lol.
oh btw this price seems to always on offer I get these "offers" emailed to me every couple of weeks.

If you can resist eating and drinking on the ship, then this can be quite a cheap deal, but with dinner costing £40 for three courses and breakfast at almost £12 a go, you'll be paying real cruise ship prices in no time at all.

This is the Ryanair of cruising.
