"Sun visor as well"

No, they fit ON a sun visor. (they need to be as close as possible to you head for hearing and microphone purposes!) One of the drawbacks for this type, certainly not a benefit!

Cheap, a lot cheaper than mine, but a common problem with all of them is poor sound quality or volume, or both, so even though mine was well rated, I wish I had gone for something more sophisticated & expensive like a Bluetooth radio head unit

hot from me.

Hot for me, excellent piece of kit for the money. Use it in my people carrier which has a deep windscreen and chubby hole on dash to store it. i leave the clip on the visor and my phone's bluetooth on. When my phone rings I have time to take it out and attach it to visor and answer call. Very fast connect and clear sound both ways

Wouldn't be safer to set it up on the visor before you drive! The idea of hands free is that you don't ever need to take your hands off the wheel, set the phone to auto answer and with bluetooth you can achive this.

it sounds like he's taking his phone out and clipping that to the visor then answering a call?

if so, I don't see the point in that, as you say set phone to auto answer, if not leave the phone where it is, and answer via unit itself, or clip the phone if preferred onto visor before setting off.

each to there own and all that.......

this should be put forward for a design award - I really wouldn't want something that ugly in my car at all - however cheap it was.

Come on dude
Will you get a product having design perfection like Apple's for this price?
It is a cheaper product so look at it from that angle....
