£11,99 at ALDI store in Finchley, London. A different make though. Madox I think.

Normally I find 7dayshop very good. I bought one of these the other week for the same price and bricked on the 2nd day I used it. I managed to recover the data and reformat it. Unfortunately, I can't find where I put it :(
#4
Terrible company, terrible drive speeds. The amount of time it would take to transfer enough things to actually fill the drive wouldnt be worthwhile.
#5
ive bought loads of products from 7day shop with no problems shame youve had such bad luck
#6
Bought the black one of this and I'll be sending it back as its not really 16GB.
H2test reports more errors than you can shake a stick at-spend a few pence more and get a "named" brand.
#7
12.99 is very good price for 16GB memory and at the end you get what you paid for sadly:( still voted hot

Total nonsense. Excellent company...good solid little drives.

cant understand peoples logic the reason these companies can sell stuff much cheaper than others is their overheads. you cant expect to buy something at halfcost or more and expect john lewis customer services. if its aftersales your worried about then go pay more and get just that
#14
If you can find a 16gb stick for less than £1 per gigabyte, you've done alright.
As long as it works of course. We shall see.

They dont thats what I was saying.
Myself and a lot of the other people who bought them last time it was posted around the same price have had loads of problems with them.

You are correct, it was the black one which was posted previously, although this item was mentioned in the post. The blue 8GB has been posted previously.

So let me get this straight-you seem to think that because its a different colour from the same manufacturer it will have different internals.
They dont work properly and for an extra pound you could have this:

A few might have problems thats not what Im talking about.
Im talking about capacity which isnt whats stated(most people are losing around 1.5 to 2GB)how many Minis ordered as a 2 litre have been delivered by BMW with a 1.4 in them?
My guess would be zero.
Not sure why you are getting all defensive anyway it not like you're selling them
#22
youd be suprised and im not getting defensive sorry if i come across that way all im trying to do is get people a bargain
#23
if its the same as the black one i bought recently, then its super slow
#24
Don't try to send it back when it breaks, had the batterys from them, 2 months emails, chalk it up to experience.

THESE DRIVES ARE BOTH SLOW AND FAULTY!

I've sent mine back, bought a couple of weeks ago, for a refund....
#26
hot for me as i have one already from elsewhere and it works just fine
no 7 day shop logo of course

I think its slow speed
#28
i don't think you can use this on the xbox 360! check the last review on the 7dayshop website.
#29
They are definitely slow. I've learnt my lesson now. I'll be going for the really fast ones in the future. It'll save me time/money in the long run.
#30
Anyway if you are after two in black you can save another £1. It's the same in black with no writing on. http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_6&products_id=109553

Have you tested it with h2test.
If not Im sure you will find its faulty.
#32
so what constitutes a good transfer rate? i ask because dont have a clue what im looking for really :p
#33
For what it's worth, I bought the black one of these from 7dayshop a couple of weeks ago. Admittedly, I've not had it long, but I've been transferring fairly large files between a mac at work and my windows pc at home with no trouble at all.
It's a little slow, but that doesn't bother me as I minimise the transfer and get on with doing something else. Works fine so far.
#34
It will tell you its worked fine as its false reporting its capacity.
The first 14-15GB should be OK but if you fill it you will lose a lot of data due to bad sectors.

Thanks for the tip, I've just checked on OSX and it indeed reports 16.34 GB, which seems too high. I'll make sure to keep below 14 gigs or so! Cheers

Handy to know. Looks like this will be used for transporting large files between machines, but not for proper backup. B*gger, teach me to buy cheap!

Not really as its why we are all members here.
Im sure most if not all of the 16GB drives available for around the same price will actually work fine.
We have just been caught out by a company selling faulty drives but I dont think we can be blamed for wanting a bargain-unfortunately these aren't because they will lose your data.

Thanks for your witty and insightful post there champ!
I particularly liked the way you provided loads of evidence and experience to back up your well structured argument.
Loads of people who bought these in a different colour had problems with them and sent them straight back.
