Not for me - couldn't bring myself to eat these animals - but people do and maybe someone would like to try?!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a team of mutant, anthropomorphic, talking ninja turtles who were trained by their rat sensei in the martial art of Ninjutsu. From their home in the sewers of Manhattan, they would go on to fight all kinds of evil. Oddly enough despite wearing bandanas the turtles never deemed it necessary to wear clothes. You can salute a naked turtle of a different kind with todays Groupon: for just £8 you will get £20 worth of exotic food and live jazz music at the phenomenal The Naked Turtle.

The Naked Turtle has been a Sheen fixture for quite some time. A recent takeover has re-energised the venue and despite the new-ish feel this place still has the same atmosphere it was famous for. The dining area is set beyond a double shop-fronted exterior and terrace and is a lively setting. Despite the smoking ban this place still has a good jazz feel reminiscent of those Manhattan clubs from the 50s and all you cool cats will find something enjoyable here.

The nightly jazz sessions at the Turtle are just one of a multitude of positives and the singing waiting staff (who have appeared on the BBC) are surprisingly good. The Turtle is a neighbourhood haunt like no other and beyond the jazz there is a bistro that keeps locals coming back. Chef Manuel Dupont learnt his trade in Normandy under the tutelage of Michelin starred chefs and his exciting menu exhibits this. The menus are seasonal but star dishes from the summer menu are the courgette flowers stuffed with ricotta and honey (£8.50), and roasted corn-fed chicken with ras al hanout (£13.50). You can also try famous Naked Turtle Roo Platter which contains kangaroo, ostrich and zebra served with a port jus with creamy mash potatoes (£21.59). When youre done eating, grab yourself a drink and listen to some soulful jazz to really make your night. Cowabunga, dudes!

What people are saying...
"A great little local restaurant & very popular with the locals. went on the recommendation of a friend as a great place to take a first date. This place has beautiful classy jazz singing waitresses, good cocktails, great food and is a charming little venue that is very New York in it's feel and ambience."

"We dined at the turtle last Saturday and had a fantastic experience. Unfortunately the power blew out a fuse in the main restaurant. But in true blitz style the show went on. The food still arrived in a timely manner. The piano and singing was done by candle light and with a lively warm open fire burning away. The staff were all professional to the last with continual singing and entertainment as well as being cheerful and jolly. How great it was to see that this restaurant can deliver great food and entertainment while under awkward conditions to say the least."

What's the difference between eating a cow, a pig, a ostrich of a dog at the end of the day?
