excuse me if this is a stupid question, but does it take sdhc cards? thanks

This is a great deal but be aware this is a widescreen frame and will not display most photo's propperly.

800 x 600 is 4:3 ratio which is the same as most digital photographs

Pinchez your incorrect, it displays your photos as your camara takes them as its a 4.3 ratio.
#13
Sorry chaps i may be wrong but it does say:

# Main Specifications:
# 8" widescreen digital photo frame

It doesn't say anything about 4:3 and in the picture it does look widescreen

If this was a definate 4:3 i would buy one.
#14
And even if it didn't, it wouldn't be a difficult job to crop them to fit.
Very hot deal for the spec.

Edit:
@pinchez - it *does* look like widescreen in the pic, but 800:600 = 8:6 = 4:3
#15
800 x 600 is a 4.3 ratio. ''Widescreen'' must be a content error. ill get mine tomoz so ill let you know...

Pinchez your incorrect, it displays your photos as your camara takes them as its a 4.3 ratio.

There is some ambiguity though. It does specify it as being an 8" widescreen digital photo frame, and in the picture the frame is certainly not 4:3. Perhaps it's 800x600 but with non-square pixels.....?
#17
If anybody who gets one (or has one) can tell me whether it has a random function it would be really appreciated. I bought a frame before that would only display in a set order (alphabetically) which was really annoying.

Thanks

FWIW their website is here:

I can't see mention of the DP800 though.

Personally i would get the Jessops own branded ones (i got the 10.4" 2gb today) : http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/535350/jessops-digital-lcd-10-4-hi-resolut

.. but this is still a good price compared to the other makes out there that arnt even 800x600 resolution - assuming this one is 4:3 of course. So voted hot.

I know a couple of people who have these. They are always switched off. What's the point in that?

I'm sure this is a great price but imo they are a waste if time.
#23
ragamuffingirl - the top cash is a great tip. but the promo code doesnt seem to work on these... nice try! :-)

Indeed, because they are a shocking waste of energy. Why can't they have a low-standby-current power supply and a motion sensor so they only come on when someone's there to look at them? Seems such an obvious idea to me...
#32
Needed some blank DVDs anyway, so I ordered some for 15.99 and used the £5 discount code, so I got the frame for 29.99. Excellent :-)

Edit:
Damn, didn't check if it was mains powered or not. Grrr.
#33
Is it me or has this gon back up in price?
#34
sony have the only one worth having... not interested
#35
Gave this a bash as would have liked another Kitvision 7" one that was going for £17.99 but that's now sold out. Will be interesting to see how much better this is.

I emailed the company who produces these last night to ask if they are 800x600 (4:3) or widescreen, but I have not got a response.
I have just come off the phone after talking with Play for a very long time to try to explain why it could be confusing to advertise them as being both widescreen and 800x600 and could they clarify whether that s correct or are they 4:3 in their aspect ratio. I was told that they have not got a clue and that I should return them if they are not correct, oh hum.

So if anyone has got one of these or knows the aspect ratio then could they please let me know, even though my order of two of the Coby frames is now being packed at least I will know if I should buy the two alternative ones that I have reserved at Comet.

Thanks to the OP - heat and rep added.

I got one of these last year when they were £50 and they are definately the best Frame for this price range. Its all about the pixels, this frame is 800x600 whereas virtually all other low cost frames have a lower resolution, The popular Kodak P720 for example has a 7" 480x234 screen which is going to look a LOT less sharp. Those folks who have experienced a 7" 480x234 frame and think all photo frames are pants would be impressed by this Jessops model. Another point is that cameras take images in different aspect ratios. Most compact cameras take a 4:3 image which needs no adjustment, maybe you would compress the JPEG image a little to use less storage space. I use a Digital SLR (Changeable Lenses) and like all DSLR they use a 3:2 format, which means you need to adjust the image on your PC so it doesn't look strange.
