I wanted to switch from my current Virgin contract of £10 a month to the Tesco deal, phoned up Virgin and said I want my PAC code so I can swap to Tesco and they said they have a deal just for people swapping to compete against the Tesco deal.

They are giving their usual £20/month contract for £10 a month. I got changed to it straight away from my other contract.

Not sure if you already need a pay monthly contract with them or if you could just phone up with a pay as you go sim. Definitely worth a try though!

The unlimited internet has a fair usage of 1 gig/month.

RETENTIONS DEAL FOR EXISTING CUSTOMERS.

"The unlimited internet has a fair usage of 1 gig/month" ?????? Unlimited = 1gb per months? How is this unlimited. Typical VM.

I dont trust VM with anything they say on the phone. You need to get everything in writing (which I hope you've got).

Every unlimited offer always has a fair usage policy... A lot of places are 500mb, so 1 gig is good.

But this isn't really a deal, it's a retention offer for existing customers and ALL networks do this sort of thing to get customers top stay.

I can't call them and get this deal seeing i'm not an existing customer can I ?
#9
how long did you have left on your contract? Asking because I've only had mine for 6 months so wondered whether it was worth a go or they would tell me to 'do one' as I am obv tied in for a long time yet.
#10
I was on a 30 day rolling contract.

Have been with VM for 6 years and they've been brilliant - excellent customer service and fair prices. Hot deal - partner is about to ring up and try and get this as he's on £15/month with them atm.
#12
It's worth a try whatever, you are just asking for a PAC code and don't have to actually use it once you have it.

do they piggy back off t-mobile network?? also if this is a retention deal it isn't really much use to the majority of people !!

I called O2 and asked them to match the recent T-Mobile deal as my contract expires in two months. The loyalty people said that they would not be able to match it and that I should 'grab' the T-Mobile deal... So it is not all networks.

not all of them do

Its not a deal at all - Its like when some people try and leave sky and they offer them free movies to stay - Its for each individual customer...

They told me it was specifically set up to combat the tesco one.

Yes Vm are on the T-mobile signal .. and although I had a message to say they upgrading the network I dont think Vm benefit from the Orange/T-mobile join up

The Tesco deal is only 500Mb but stated as unlimited!

Just a warning, I did this three months ago when the deal was up last.
Virgin did not take the discount the first month and added £20 instead making my bill £40, I called to complain, they said they would fix it and refund the error which they did. Next month no discount, I called they appologised and said they had raised the issue again to their tech team and said they would refund the error. This month low and behold, no refund from last month and still no discount. Called again, politley asked to have it sorted which they said the would chase again, but then had a 30min heated discussion because the rep could not count to work out the errors and refunds I was due over the 3 months so did not want to refund last months £10 . . . . In the end she agreed after getting a bit of paper to write it down, but I have yet to see if the refund has gone on Sigh!

Psoleos, you say you were on a rolling contract, I currently have the £10p/m 300mins 300txt as part of virgins 3 for £30 bundle, were you on the same?

Partner has just got this too - he was previously on a £18/month 30-day rolling contract.

I`m on the £20 a month deal, which sounds the same to this, the `unlimited` texts are 3000. The 1Gb unlimited internet is 30p a day to use(although you can stay on all day if you like I guess) My 18 month contract has only a few days to go, and I`m leaving because the signal is poor in my area, going back to O2, Tesco, or possibly GiffGaff.
#32
has anyone else actually managed to convert to this deal?

im currently on their monthly rolling 8.50 contract which is only 100mins unlimited text so this sounds tempting to try even though i dont really need the internet nor the extra mins atm
#33
Do they charge for voice mail as T-Mobile do?
T-Mobile voice mail is NOT taken out of inclusive minutes, they charge extra.
What a disgrace!

I had a £18 month Virgin contract with 700 mins and unlimited txts. Changed to £10 month when I told them I was going to tesco deal but only got given 500 mins! grr.
They also keep messing up my bill too, annoying having to keep calling them about it.
#35
I did this about 3mnths ago. Told them I was leaving to get the Tesco sim and they offered 600mns,unlimited text and unlimited data...£10 a month.
