Now Tesco have sold out of their 80GB ps3 consoles (a deal posted a while ago, informed of a £271 price, after Quidco), the next best deal (and almost exactly the same price), is available from Dixons.

Normal price is £299.98, delivered.
Use voucher code PS3CONSOLE20 to get £20 off.
Shop through Quidco to get a 3% cashback.
Making the overall price £271.58 delivered.

Also - code PS3GAME10 will give you a 10% discount on any games you buy (assuming they're not cheaper elsewhere, that is).

The link I've posted forces you to Quidco (otherwise you wouldn't get the 3%).

Fair enough (that's what I was saying to myself, just needed someone to confirm it ;-))

i can see the quidco police approaching...

Good price. I'm thinking of getting one at some point soon. May wait to see what offers with games come out. Oh, and Sony have just announced a 160gb ps3 coming out in late October...
#6
that's the best price around for this console, isn't it?
#7
Not bad price youre right. But not the best ps3 out though...

Looks just like the 40gb ps3, chromey silver and black with only 2 usb ports. I have the 60gb and is a much better looking (and feeling) console. Plus it has 4 usb ports and has backward capability for ps2 and ps1 games

Yes, but the 60GB version is no longer in production, and can't be bought anywhere.

So whats your point ????

No, the 80gb PS3 can be had from Littlewoods for about £250 using their 10% off voucher and quidco. That is, if Littlewoods honour the voucher, which is not guaranteed.

the current 40gb already has a newer chipset.. the 40gb runs cooler and quieter than the 60gb. but you are right that the 60gb is better but unfortunately it isn't available to purchase new.. i own two 60gb but never use it to play ps2 games since i transfer all my ps2 games onto the internal ps2 hard drive using hdloader i.e. i play ps2 games off a hard drive so b/c for ps3 is pointless for me.

Deal,
seen a few pc world price matches lately.
Any chance of a price match here?
#16
Isn't it like having an old model of the car that had some feature that the manufacturer decided wasn't worthwhile and removed from the newer version? Like someone said above, the 60 isn't available now so that has no relevance to this deal. Removing the extra USB ports was a cheap move but if you need more then get a hub. If you really need BC then you can get a PS2 for the price difference between a new 80gb and a pre-owned 60 (£350 at Game!).

I say it is hot but I still won't be buying until the price comes down a lot more. I want one but it is too hard to justify when I already have the 360.

voucher code does not work for that (see link in first post)

Ignore me, thought it was a good spot with the bundle then someone jumped it quicker than me refferring to the first post saying that the voucher doesn't work with it

It's still not a bad deal just with quidco. £20 more than the original deal price, plus MGS4.

Sorry if you misunderstood my post but it was actually in reference to your 'thread spoiling' comments about the new SKU being poor in relation to the old one. There is nothing wrong with the new SKU and the fact that you own the old one and your opinion that is is better is of no relevance. Don't try to say that the mention of a 360 is in any way a fanboy comment as I merely pointed out that I already own one whilst also saying that I want to get one of these. It just makes having two similar units hard to justify at the moment.

I'm in a similar position to yourself. Have a 360 but also want a PS3.
Reality is that I only want a PS3 for BluRay and Singstar. But can't justify spending the money just for that (think I'll hang on to my PS2 and singstar collection a bit longer).

Will wait till the price drops below £200 (hopefully before xmas)
Thanks to OP for posting.

LOlollooolll

Not going to happen. In fact I wouldn't be surprised that this new revised version with 80GB and the dual shock 3, becomes hard to find come christmas.

Who has the access control to delete posts in a thread?

Does it have to be an administrator or does the thread authour have the privilage?

I have had 2 informative and non-controvertial posts deleted from this thread.

This site is quickly becomming a total farce.

It is a waste of time posting if your posts are deleted for no apparent reason with no explination.

A website like this lives on its susbscribers and therefore I would expects this websites subscribers to be treated a tad better...

Can these cheeky little monkeys play PS2 games? and how many USB ports do they have?
#28
There's always the new 160GB SKU coming out before christmas if these become hard to find :P. I actually think prices will come down at some point this year though - i dont think the idea of releasing more and more SKU's and adding £50 onto the cost each time the drive size doubles is the best move (especially whens its much cheaper just going out and buying a harddrive seperatly).

I can see either prices coming down (granted it wouldnt be by much - ~£20 at most.) or better bundles coming out - the new 160GB for instance is coming in around £355, but includes a £55 worth of DLC (which is a start i suppose).

If you desperatly need one now though, this is a good price. I'd take this over the lottery that is Littlewoods anyday.
#29
No it cant play PS2 games and it only has 2 USB ports.

Wrong! I have a brand new never OPENED boxed 60gb ps3 I bought last december one of the few game.co.uk had left i still got the receipt.

Its been shacked up in my cupboard and still hasnt been opened ive never been that big of a console gamer and besides my psp and PC have been keeping me busy and I've been waiting to sell it at the right time I think this next few weeks you'd be best to keep an eye out in the forsale section of this site! :)

Thread author doesn't have deletion rights, unless they have mod rights (which is probably a good thing, when you think about it).
