I got this deal last year. The magazine is really not what it used to be, verging in sh!te to be honest. Despite the alleged saving (the magazine is pretty scant on pages and not top quality print/paper) it turned out to be the biggest waste of time (excuse the pun!) as far as deals go, plus i got a constant reminder each week (when the magazine arrived) of what a complete waste of money the subscription was.

Unless your a current reader and know what to expect, go for it, otherwise you will be sorely disappointed.

I will second that. I went for exactly the same deal last year. Pretty disappointed with the mag. Although it is a Uk edition there is a heavy bias for US news and very little on UK/EU. If it is the free encyclopedia you are interested, check out what it costs on its own and see if you can get it cheaper.

Anyways why would you need an encyclopedia in the days of google and wikipedia :-)

Time = Chronicles of America
Got fed up of them after subscribing a few months ago. Cant stand to read just about everybody in the US [email protected] or doing some such thing to get into the news.
Wont get it even if given free.

Great magazine for around 45p and I do like the articles. Although it is US/UK centric it is still quite informative. However, as others pointed out, if one only ever watch BBC/ITV and access UK/US media then one conscience could get quite skewed. One really needs to access media in Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, etc. and other American English independent tongues to get a balanced view of current affairs. Invariably no matter how well informed a writer is, an institutional medium will have a particular slant towards an concensus cultural view. You may be surprised that if you combine viewing of the typical BBC and ITV news and other native language broadcast how the current affairs are reported differently for the same event. As to whether the contents are what people want, Time Magazine do not appear to actively solicitsurvey from readers what they like to read. But this is probably fine tuning. Finally a hot deal with free gift. Well recommended to those who do not read a newspaper daily or at all! As for the price it is a real bargain as assuming that the postage in bulk is probably around 20p then the magazine is about 25p.A bargain!
