A Short History of Nearly Everything is Bill Bryson's quest to understand everything that has happened from the Big Bang to the rise of civilization. He takes subjects that normally bore the pants off most of us, like geology, chemistry, and particle physics, and aims to render them comprehensible to people who have never thought they could be interested in science. In the company of some extraordinary scientists, Bill Bryson reveals the world in a way most of us have never seen it before.

I have read the book (long time ago now). It was a nice book with a few quite comical sections, such as when he is describing how small a proton is. However some sections he seems to leave out important science and *some* errors and misinformation to maintain the pace of the book. Bearing this all in mind this book is still considered an enjoyable read and I bet the audio book is created in a manner that is equally as pleasing.

I've been listening to this on mp3, very interesting and quite funny at times, it is well presented and great for long car journies, but i don't think kids would like it.

Great book. A one stop shop for how the universe and us came about. I've read lots of other science books and this is by far the best for those looking for an easy yet very informative read. Bill Brysons best book by far. And that's saying something.
