For the 3D do you have to have the 120Mhz monitor.
#3
Batman comes with those red and green glasses. Your screen/game turns red and green for the 3d effect.
#4
I actually bought the Palit version today and I'm surprised at how good the 3d is with red/blue but it hurts my head. Works well in Left4Dead, nothing like getting a hunter to the face :P

The novatech cards only come with 1 game, the Palit comes with Batman (I picked mine up from the Portsmouth store).
Also the Palit sold by novatech is the one with 1x DVI 1x VGA and 1x HDMI with a DVI > HDMI adaptor.
The download for Batman cannot be done until the official release on the 18th of Sept and will be downloadable from www.nzone.com/BatmanAA incase anyone wondered :)

where does it say that the card is palit? or are all the novatech cards made by palit?
#6
can anyone comment how noisy these are in 2d and in 3d?

Good deal.

Card is OK when not playing, but very noisy under load in 3D mode.

The bios they shipped the card with couple months ago doesn't have real 2D mode (i.e. clock/memory don't get lowered), but quite easy to load new bios or even modify it).

Performance is great, managed to overclock it to 750 core 1617 shader 2600 memory, but only after fitted with new cooling - Arctic Cooling Accelero XTreme GTX280 (this required though a bit of work as this card does not have nVidia reference PCB but custom - eventually it works out great as the PWM is much better and doesn't get so hot.

Standard temp. 45c idle 75c after 2-3h of Crysis, with new cooling 35c idle, 42c under load.

All in all good card, great if you like to mod it...

too much to spend on a last gen card, DX11 is out in a matter of weeks

Don't happen to have a link to said BIOS for the Palit version do you?

For those wondering about the Novatech version I can confirm the current stock is Palit as I bought one today :)

I have for the Gainward:

http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=106

,it should work with Palit as they are the same cards but all on your own risk :whistling:

I've modified it with nibitor for lower 2d clocks, no problems at all.

Get it cheaper on the shop offers page. £106.94 inc VAT at the time of writing.

How will DX11 impact the choice of decent graphics cards?

ATI will be releasing new DX11 cards within the next few weeks. They are likely to be significantly faster than the present generation (they've been demoed running Crysis across three monitors at a good framerate) not much more expensive ($300 and $400 at launch is quoted) and will support all those fancy DX11 features you'll be wising your card supported in the near future.
Of course even if you don't want one their release is likely to cause the cost of other cards to drop in price.

DX11 is a marketing ploy, don't be brainwashed by these companies. They have yet to take advantage of DX10!!.
Bang for buck? you won't get much better than this.

I agree to an extent, but there will be far more powerful DX11 cards for £150 to £170 out very soon and for the sake of £50/£60 I would rather have the latest more powerful tech.

Besides when the new cards do come out there will be some serious bargains for people happy with the last gen cards.

Can somebody please update the post to show that you can get this for almost £8 cheaper (as I described on the previous page)? I hate to think people are wasting money. Also, check out the offer on the reconditioned XFX 4870.
#18
To those that are not biased to nvidia, the ATI 4870 outperforms it in most cases and is available for £91 in the post below. True, no batman, but 3 other decent games instead :)
