This is for 8gb (2 x 4gb) Kingston Memory Ram suitable for a Macbook Pro 15" i5 with Kingston code KTA-MB1066K2/8G.

I'm sure it's compatible with lots of other machines and you can check this code on the http://www.kingston.com website.

The description is slightly incorrect on the oyyy.co.uk website saying it's DDR2 but the code matches to that on the Kingston website.

Also, go through Quidco for an extra 3% cashback.

This site should really stop this hot or cold thing, just post a deal and thats it, there is no benifit of having something go hot, you dont get a prize or free money, so who cares.

One thing I learnt about this site, is that its plagued with TROLLS who vote cold for everything no matter what it is,

Also I think MODS should start banning people that are rude or attack other members, but they dont, and it has been mentioned before, but they do nothing.

Very Poor IMO
But good deal for 8gb ram

Yep, I'll second that!

I think the point is that 'collective wisdom' should in theory win, and the 'hot' page which is all most people read will only list good deals. If everything on the 'new' page was on the front page, there would just be so much rubbish that people would stop using the site.

But yes, you are right about the abusive people not being removed - having said that, they'll just go and get another username and carry on.

Just had a quick look on the kingston.com site and there does appear to be quite a few other machines that use this kind of memory so it's definitely worth checking out their site for compatibility.

True, nice find. The oyyy price does come down to £101 with Quidco but obviously the ones you've suggested are better.

Thanks for the links Agharta. If you choose the 3-5 working days delivery option with Lambda-tek, the total is £100.06. :)

A couple of the MODs are the worst offenders.
If you know which websites / forums to look at, you'll see the evidence (_;)

There's actually a really big benefit to people having the ability to vote hot/cold... if it wasn't for that the site would be flooded with spam and you'd have to sift through pages of crap to find anything interesting.
Of course it would be nice if you reached a certain level for posting a lot of hot deals and received a reward in return (an amazon voucher for example), but I mainly just post deals I personally think are good and worth sharing...

I'd love the ability to ignore a deal. This deal for example I'd vote hot as it's a good price, then hit ignore as it's not something I'm interested in. Then some other deals could reach [my view of] the front few pages and I'd not have a bunch of kids toys deals or similar uninteresting stuff.

Cracking deal, was so close to getting the £122 kit from crucial yesterday. Should be able to double my ram for about £50. Cheers guys.

I agree, although there's plenty of deals now where people vote the deal hot because they like the picture that the OP has used, that is quite moronic I think. The site should be called hotukpics. There'd be too much Mod work though if there were enforced rules about voting hold and cold, so the system sort of works but it's openly abused, or rather used against its intended purpose.

Aside from video editing or intensive multi layer Photoshop work on large image files, I can't think of why a MB would need 8GB of RAM.Certainly no games would benefit from it.

Maybe it'll make their internets faster :D

When you're doing a large amount of intensive work i.e. photoshop, premiere and have a lot of apps open at once then the more ram you have the better!

Yes, but isn't that the whole point of shopping around! Buy the Mac with the standard 4gb and get some extra ram - install it yourself and then you can sell the old ram.

Maybe you should have read my post first (_;)

Plus. It doesn't take many layers in Photoshop to start filling up the RAM - which is why I use an SSD for a scratch disk.

Run multiple virtual machines, have a Windows 7 VM running memory intensive applications ....

i always read the comments on the majority ofInteresting threads, and there is always someone arguing about a cheaper version or saying save your money and buy another product which is poor quality in the same category. i bought the 8gb Ram for my 13" work macbook pro 2009 model and it is out of stock at crucial memory, will receive once back in stock.

Why pick a thread on Apple RAM prices to start a rant on how appropriate it is to have a system of hot and cold voting? Surely this would be more sensible in a separate discussion thread?
Very poor IMO.

Back on topic - it's certainly good to see 4GB DIMM prices falling now.

have ordered the same part number and tested it on my MBP - it is not running well and crashed. only give continuous beeps (3 beeps) after reboot.

I hope the one from Crucial would run okie - any feedback on this?
