Yes, size on laptop RAM and desktop is different - different amount of pins
#4

Do you want to change the pic to the item too.

Hot price BTW.
#7
Good deal for laptop, AND desktop !
#8
Ah - so this means it it desktop ram (not laptop)?

If confirmed I think I will have to pull out the credit card for the 5th time today.
Mrs went to sales and I am sure I will have spent more by the end of the day than she has just sitting on here.

I have asked for the pic to be updated. Have added here for people. Also note you will need a 64bit OS to take advantage of 8GB.

This is a very hot deal. I would have bought this, had I not recently bought 4GB 1600MHz from Scan.
#14
Amazing deal! Hope it comes through

Thats true. If you're on a 32bit machine, don't bother as you can only use 3.5gb of your memory. Why, I haven't a clue. Monstrously stupid it is, but there it is.
#16
only if this was laptop ram! damn.

Great deal though.
#17
Epic price.
#18
I bought 2 of these in the morning when the price was £49.99 and it dropped to £46.89 after a few hrs. But it was too late to cancel and re-order....

I paid double the price for my existing 8GB DDR3 RAM, which I will move to my HTPC now...
#19
wth!!! must be a mis price!!
incredibly cheap!

But this is for 2x 4GB sticks which is currently £80+ elsewhere.
#27
Great price ,be ready however to set the timings manually. It also seems to have some compatibility issues with AMD systems and relatively many sticks DOA (chceck ncixus, newegg and ocz support forum)
#28
Is it better to buy 3 sets as opposed to 2? (just thinking about the i7 systems...)
But it's only dual channel? Does that make a difference?

Do you really need 24GB?

hot, heat added 8)

WOW seems very cheap! How would this compare to say:

Corsair Memory XMS3 Classic 4GB DDR3 1333 Mhz CAS 9-9-9-24, 1.50V

Currently on Scan today only @ £39.94 (only 4GBs but any better in real terms??) Also, the OCZ stuff runs at higher voltage - will this be an issue for some motherboards??

Both are quality sets of RAM, however with the OCZ you get double for £7 more. No-brainer.

99.99 now when at checkout. can not order

Same here.
#36
up to £99.99 now.
sorry guys, but i looks like in typical play.com fashion this won't be honoured :/!
so i was correct with the mis-price then :p!
#37
Damn it. Had it in my basket, went to check if my board could support 24GB of RAM (it could!), went to order and it had gone up in price :(

Should have just bitten the bullet and chanced it. Hope Play honours it for those who ordered :)
#38
This is not a misprice. Was previously at £49.99 then went down a couple more pounds. More likely is they are running out of stock.
#39
Yeah £99.99 now :(

The days of cheap DDR2 are over now IMHO, volume production has switched to DDR3. I'd say if you need DDR2 buy in the near future because it will go up in price in the medium term like DDR has.
