Thought this was a cracking deal for a class 6, 8gb SDHC memory card; here's the blurb;

This Play.com SDHC memory card has a high storage capacity and fast data transfer so that you can store your digital content such as high-resolution photos, high definition videos and more without the restrictions of memory card size and data write-speeds of the past.

Class is dependent on the write-speed of the card, the higher the 'Class', the faster the memory card. This card is Class 6.

Please check the device you are buying this card for is SDHC compatible. SDHC cards are not backwards compatible with standard SD Host devices.

check the reviews on Play - most seem to arrive damaged!
£10.99 also appears to be a normal price for this card.

not the usual Play quality this time.

"MOST" in this case is THREE !
Bearing in mind that reviews are for the most part written by dis-satisfied customers, and happy ones with nothing better to do,I personally would discard them in this instance.
Play do offer a reasonable returns service.
This price for a card of this speed seems like a HOT deal to me,unless someone can point us all to a cheaper class 6 8Gb one?:whistling:

Did anyone get the 16GB one that was posted 2 weeks ago?

yeah. These are normally £10.99.. so no need to hurry.
i got one before christmas - no fancy packaging (looked like a cereal prize) but works a treat

I think the ones that are normally 10.99... are the Class 4 ones.

These are quite cheap for Class 6.

Great price for a Class 6 card

The next best I can find is a MyMemory own branded one at £2 more http://www.mymemory.co.uk/SDHC/MyMemory/MyMemory-8GB-SD-Card-%28SDHC%29---Class-6

Memorybits.co.uk are selling an integral 8gb class 6 for £12-22 after a 20% discount code.I ordered one last week and when it arrived its an integral Ultimapro,Much better than the Play one i'd say. http://www.memorybits.co.uk/ the code is newsale20 and is working at the moment.
Direct link the one in the picture is not the one that came. The Ultimapro is better still.

good price for class 6. usually Toshiba cards if you peel off the Play label.

We've just bought a SD camcorder - do I need class 6 for that? Is this worth a pop, or has anyone seen 16GB cards anywhere for a reasonable price?
#11
Would these work with an adaptor on a PSP?

In my opinion, class 6 is the minimum you should go for if your camcorder records HD video. for SD recording you should be OK with class 4 cards

(You may not get the exact specified speed from any given card. The speed varies with the equipment you use it with due to different tuning of each equipment)

Nope, I think you need a micro one for that and the adapter of course.

Best if you don't contaminate your deals with rubbish from the retailer like "was £29.99". Not many of us have good enough memories to remember when these cards were that price.

Can you run an operating system off one of these?

Yes, if your hardware will boot from the card but you also might want to google/read up about it first i.e. the OS may perform too slow off an SD card for you.

I run Ubuntu Netbook Remix of my Sandisk Extreme 3 card...I just press "escape" as I boot up and choose to boot off the card.

Does seem like a good deal, cards are usually class 4 at this price I think.
