well i did buy an mp4 player from aldi so i'll guess it'll be the same tevion brand.

i was pleased with it the only draw backs were
having to convert video files to some strange format, which obviously isn't the case here.
and the problem of not being able to change song without stopping the one you were listening to, which could still be the case

Dont think saving £50 for an Ipod touch is worth it, audio quality is average and its expensive for 8gb :P. Get a Cowon for a similar price to apple and they are alot better in terms of quality, SanDisk Sansa, Archos are the main audio quality makes.

Voted hot as its cheap but not sure how good it is.

I can second the recommendation of a Cowon. Far superior sound quality to iPods, and most other brands out there.

Just be warned that these things always look great in photos and even better when you see it for real, but they are VERY buggy, slow and the screen res is awful!
I bought this item from a shopping channel and I returned it for a full refund after a few days later, so remember you get what you pay for and an ipod touch it aint!

Cheers.

p.s. Dont understand why some ppl have said 'save another £50 for an ipod touch' as the cheapest one is £165 :S

1st gen ones can be bought from ebay or an 02 shop for around £100

Or just save up another £250 and get a 3G iPhone :whistling:

Only 8gb, not much room for any serious avi files, but still a nice player for the money.
#17
There are obviously exceptions for some objects and environments, but as a rule 3" isn't normally considered "huge". Top marketing, there.

Good point, but could be expensive depending on size. I have a Creative Zen vision 30gb, and have already used 20gb on my music collection and a few avi files. I think you can now get my model for under £100. So it depends on what you want, if you have a large media collection this could work out expensive, but if you are happy with a moderate collection it’s a good deal.

I have heard bad things about Aldi recently, I heard their profits have sank through the floor and within the coming weeks they will be going into administration. Therefore buying this is a liability as there will be no where to bring it back to if it goes wrong. Be Warned...

Aldi UK sales soar by 25%

By Elizabeth Rigby

Published: January 12 2009 20:21 | Last updated: January 12 2009 20:21

Aldi UK confirmed its position as one of the few winners from Britain’s economic downturn, with sales up by a quarter over the past year as wealthier Britons flocked to the discount retailer’s stores.

The German chain, which has struggled to make inroads into the UK market since landing on British shores in the early 1990s, said the brand had built momentum over 2008 as shoppers, mindful of tightening household budgets, decided to try out shopping at the hard discounter’s stores.

^ Now that's touché

Edit: Great deal, if I didn't have an 80Gb iPod, would consider, but I keep getting told off by my girlfriend for getting new stuff, iPod, netbook, DS. Sucks.

Aldi profits sank through the floor? I'm sure that the weak pound will have affected UK profits a bit, but they are always a successful shop when I visit and see how much is going through the till.

This media player looks like a load of rubbish though. The really important thing about the iPod touch is not the hardware but the software. Thats what makes it such a great device.

The great thing about software is that it's updatable, whether that be by a 3rd party, or the manufacturer, hardware isn't upgradable atall on a device-device basis.

2 questions....
DNS and pwnd.....what do they mean? Excuse my ineptitude of forum language but I am ignorant to what those two terms mean.

DNS - system which allows a computer to be accessed via a name (eg - www.bbc.co.uk) rather than its address (eg - 179.0.4.23)

pwned - trendy way of saying "beaten". Its one better than been "owned".

looks canny, heat from the off for potential bargain, will see what the system looks and plays like before universal karma love is issued in tandem.

Save up another 50 quid for an ipod touch? Haha, more like save up another 100 quid. Plus this device doesn't force you to use the horrible iTunes and lets you drag and drop using a normal windows interface. Plus it loks like its probably compatible with more formats than an iPod anyway.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ...

In law, defamation (also called calumny, libel (for written words), slander (for spoken words), and vilification) is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image. It is usually, but not always,[1] a requirement that this claim be false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed (the claimant).

Im thinking this is the same as the onda vx747? I got one of these last year for my lad and Its actually pretty damn good. Heres a link showing the onda vx747 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyPlfH4U3Vo
The firmware on the aldi picture looks the same on the onda i bought. If this is the same as the aldi one then it get a hot vote from me.
