Some people have been asking for a cheap 8gb USB pen drive, so combined with the Google checkout promo there's this tasty number for just over £25 plus delivery (I'm sure if you take Super Saver it won't be much at all). The reviews state it's a little slow (max 4.5mb/sec) so for Vista's Readyboost but as a run of the mill USB pen it looks pretty sweet. Some people are even getting EMTEC drives (BASF by any other name)!

Ok update - bad news is the Google checkout offer expiers Monday 5th November. Good news is with Anytime Delivery this pen is £25.24 on the nose - no delivery fee.

My bad - I read the ebuyer delivery thing wrong - it is £27.82 on the lowest delivery. Still good tho eh?

Yup, got confused with the delivery time business. Changed and thanks!

Not bad, though at that price, bound to be very slow, rather spend a little more and get some decent speed.

Indeed, I have a 4GB Emtec and it's slower than my downloads from Newsgroups.

4.5mb/sec Write, 18mb/sec Read IIRC. Seems reasonable although I'm sure there may be faster ones.

No, it's really slow compared to a lot of them out there.

I have got 4GB version of this and it is the worst one I ever purchased. Read/Write are very slow. And worst data corruption rate. I have used it around 5 times and had 3 time corruptions. I have stopped using it now. I hope I just got the faulty one but beware of the quality. You would expect the data will be there when you copy and it is not a nice experience loosing them often.

I had seen some 8GB USB disks auctioned at £15 on ebay..incl postage
