Went into Merry Hill's Best Buy yesterday to get Halo Legendary edition and happened across the Turtle Beach Headphones (xbox specific) - these have an input for the controller's headset connection so you get full chat capability with dolby surround from the xbox.

Unit was priced at £149.99 (SKU 1000112778) but, as Aintree store is opening this weekend and it's one of their offers, other stores are also doing then at £99.99.

Can't find them anywhere online for less that £120 - I know that not everyone is near a Best Buy (we aren't, it was a forty mile round trip) but, if you want good surround but either a) don't have a 5.1 amp or b) get moaned at by the neighbours then this is quite a steal.

(One thing of note - it's wireless (which is great) but the base-unit relies on a TOSlink from a suitable source. If you're HDMI connected then the TV should have an optical out - if it doesn't then you'll have to do away with HDMI and go back to composite connections so you can use the optical out on the xbox360 lead instead - as I had to with the 19" LCD).

Enjoy - and please don't flame me too much, it's my first post!

(Images of original £149.99 label and receipt to follow - thanks whoever added the original headphones image - appreciated)

what a crackin'd deal. Some may think you would have to be crazy to spend so much on headphones but these things are the best around for the x360

Was a bit unsure myself - I thought "how good can a pair of headphones be at recreating surround?" - as it appears, VERY GOOD!

Very glad I bought them - thanks for the comment - especially as it wasn't a 'flame' as well! oO

crackin' price... a lot of money for gaming headphones, but these are very good ones... and a comparative bargain...

Certainly a hot deal, but I had these and they cut out regularly but I suspect this was due to interference from wireless devices since they operate on the 2.4 Ghz range. If it wasn't for that I would've kept them.

They are no where near the best around for 360.

The best current headsets for gaming on the 360 are the Astro A30 and A40 models. These Turtle Beach ones sound awful in comparison. But thats the sacrifice you make when you buy wireless, and VERY unreliable wireless tech at that. The older X40 models couldnt be used next to plasma TVs, and the new ones pick up interfierence from almost every other wireless device.

Spend the extra money and pick up a pair of Trittons or Astros.

Also the same price in Currys/PCWorld in Aintree, Liverpool (infact all the opening day Best Buy "offers" were matched by them).

The X41's are excelllent. Paid £149 just after they came out. Sound is good and no problems at all with interference or anything like that!

Great price, i only have X31's and paid £90 for them so great deal.X31's only 2.1 surround sound but great quality.
