I've never done a KGB deal, do you buy a voucher and then ring up the hotel? Is this how it works?

I've never done it before either. Does that mean that you have to buy the voucher first and then make the reservation hoping that they have something free when you want it or can you reserve first and then buy the voiucher knowing that you will definitely get something when you want it ?

I have been tempted by these deals before but have always worried that I may be left with a worthless voucher.

Thanks

Ring Hotel and find an available/suitable date then tell them you will ring back in 5 minutes with kgb code which you then buy. Don't do it the other way round as yhere may not be a suitable date for you. Would love to go, have done a few but it's just short of 9 hour drive to get there.

I've used Groupon quite a few times for

Hotel accomodation.
A few meals
Photography session for the kids
Paintballing
Spa treatments (for Mrs Tomb)

Never had a problem at all with any of the deals and very satisfied with them all.

I'm from Inverness, Dornoch is about an hour drive to the north, I've been to Dornoch loads of times (lovely place) and this hotel is beautiful. It is situated right opposite the Cathedral where Madonna and Guy Ritchie got married. If you go, I hope your stay goes better than their marriage :)

I would love to take my girlfriend, it seems fantastic. Buts its 500 miles from Nottingham, and the journey itself will take 9 hours..

Would be an amazing trip though

Madonna and Guy Ritchie got married at Skibo castle not Dornoch cathedral. They used Dornoch cathedral for their child's christening.

I've stayed in Dornoch castle for a few nights and its very nice. It's also haunted too!

Dornoch also has one of the best golf courses in the country so don't forget your sticks.

Yes it is a great course and if you have a brass neck go into the clubhouse as a guest and buy a member a drink to keep them sweet and ask them if they are able to take you on as a guest at a discounted rate.

If you have a few extra pounds then stay at Skibo Castle which is part of the Carnegie Club and play the Golf Course there which is also excellent but very very private as is Skibo but worth every penny as a real treat.

Last time I was very lucky to stay as a guest it was £700 a night in 2001 but the level of hospitality was fantastic and you really do feel like Royalty and you may stay inn the same room as Madge or Michael Douglas etc and may bump into some celebs. Jordan need not apply though as they do have some standards!

We have had deals with KGB and Groupon--the programe on watchdog was a bit unfair I think---it wasnt Groupon to blame but the companies who put the deals on there. The hotels should have stated there was only a certain amount of rooms available and stopped it there! We missed a good deal a short time back because it was sold out by lunchtime-because the hotel had the sense to limit the amount of rooms.
We have had some wonderful deals from both groupon and KGB.Just got back from Derby where we had a brilliant apartment for just £50 instead of £214 a night. And are off to Harrogate later this year to stay at The Kimberly Hotel for £99 for 2 nights instead of nearly £600!!! Only problem we had booking that one was the phone number on the coupon appeared to be dead---so googled the hotel and found another number and booked via that one!

I'm jealous of the people here who live in Inverness, i'd love to live there. My family and hometown is north of there and it takes me 8 hours to go visit them :(
