Do yourself a favour and spend an extra tenner on something half decent from somewhere else... The swap-out warranties, i.e. a refurbished replacement can be a minefield too. I had the misfortune of buying a Tevion PVR from Aldi which has 'never' worked properly. Unfortunately I waited more than a year to get it sorted. Four dodgy replacement units, dozens of phonecalls and guess what still no outcome. I'm sure some people will disagree but I feel their customer service after the standard first year is a joke.

Don't waste your money on a **** camera like this.

£48.69 - Decent camera. Good manufacturer. Similar spec!

Dunno what Tesco charge for delivery and you'd need to buy a card for it but a 1gb card doesn't coat much these days. Traveller, Vivitar, Benq .... they're all rubbish.

Or heres another one for an extra couple of quid on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001DHN394/pr-electronics-21/ref=asc_df_B001DHN394315693

Again, far better camera.

Finally, if you'd rather buy instore, you can even get a Canon for a couple of quid more. Older model, but still better than the Aldi effort:

Long and the short of it. There are much better cameras out there, for the same sort of price, and they're not hard to find.

Those three were the result of five minutes on pricerunner. I hate to see people waste money on below par cameras because they initially seem cheap .... when usually they aren't actually very good value.

I agree.

Most "cheap" cameras use cheap plastic lenses which will give you horrible pictures.

Decent makes like Canon, Nikon etc will use good lenses giving you good pictures.

Much better to either spend a little more on a decent make of camera, or as you say, buy a 4mp camera from a decent company.

>but they are made by Medion so reputable company

Hardly well known in the world of photography.

Yep, its common sense really isnt it, a good lens (the cameras eye) combined with a good CCD (the sensor that captures the information seen by the cameras eye) is what gives good pictures.

An unknown brand lens, and unknown sensor (most likely a chinese branded unit marketed under differing branding) would never match the quality of a decent lens/ccd combination.

People looking at compact digital cameras often go by how many megapixels they have got, this means nothing for the average 6x4 prints compact cameras would be used for, a 4 or 5 megapixel camera of quality would be ample.

There have been lots of camera prices slashed recently, a few pounds more than this would buy something by a camera manufacturer rather than a chinese unknown.

Megapixel syndrome, an all too common infection amongst mug punters.

AVOID - Get a decent 4/5/6 MP camera instead. For another £18 you might pick up of of these which is a really decent camera.

Medion don't make anything, they are a source and supply company; specialising in products which appear to give good value. However upon closer inspection you will usually find sub-standard design and build. Their after sales service also has a 'reputation' - poor.
