A much anticipated history book from Director of the British Museum and 2008 ‘Briton of the Year’ Neil MacGregor, A History of the World in 100 Objects is a fascinatingly detailed look at the role these important objects had in shaping civilisation. The follow up to an enormously successful BBC Radio 4 show, this lavish and extensive hardback is fully illustrated, providing the perfect visual aid for those radio listeners who enjoyed painting a mental picture of the objects that were so vividly described by the erudite and highly knowledgeable MacGregor. He demonstrates the enormous significance of each item, while guiding the reader through fascinating and at times, forgotten eras, making for an intellectual and visual feast.

A fantastic book, full of information and wisdom, a cultural history of the world.

Thanks for the information about Amazon. I knew about the free podcasts but the book provides a permanent record as well as illustrations of the objects and is worth having.

I'll go to Amazon immediately!
