this should be in the electrical section. sorry i dont trust anything electrical from poundland, they had these a few weeks ago. Build qaulity does not look good and it requires usb to charge rather than mains, plus there is a better deal here
Panasonic AA and AAA Ni-Mh Battery Charger Model BQ-829 £2.79 Delivered @ 7dayshop http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/438340/panasonic-aa-and-aaa-ni-mh-battery-

fully acknowledge and respect your opinion over build quality, but the only valid comparison to this item would be another USB charger.
the mains chargers you suggest are alternatives, but useless for my requirement of exclusively USB power source.

Good price but be warned, charging via USB will take a lot longer than via the mains

They're only £1 for goodness' sake. They're not gold plated but I've always been lucky with computer/electrical items from Poundland. Regularly see same items with same or different packaging (eg USB mem card readers) for multiples of Poundland price at local computer fair - and people buy them!

bought one of these a couple of weeks ago, doesnt take that long to charge, around 10 hours for higher capacity batteries, you can charge single batteries too, i tend to keep the wireless mouse spare batteries in their, useful for that :)

Hot deal. Useful for charging triple A mouse batteries as above or remote controls/mp3 player. Great price.

if only poundland had a website..

lol (joking!)

This is indeed hot, because if you need batteries when you're travelling and you can carry this and it doesn't have a 3 pin plug, then hell yes!

Assuming of course you can't find disposable batteries, but sometimes you need them in the middle of nowhere/the night etc.

these things are craply made and damage the batteries overall life.

The only good thing with this charger, is that with an suitable USB car cigarette socket adapter, then you can use this to charge some batteries whilst out and about.

But whether that's better than having spares in the glove box I don't know

Why you would need to charge batteries off the computer? If you have rechargeable batteries then you are sure to have a proper charger

Probably a waste of a pound

Because while I'm charging AA for my digital camera with my normal battery charger I can also charge a couple of AAA for my MP3 player while I'm using the PC.
