Cheers OP. Just picked 1 up, though I'm glad I was concentrating or Amazon would've charged me around £6 for the default shipping as opposed to the free one!

What is a decent lock for a reasonable price?

Great lock as a casual deterrent, but if someone wants your bike its rather hard to fully deter them. If your bike is cheap I'd say go for this, worth more than £100 and I'd say spend quite a bit more on a good D-lock.

Would last about 5 sec anywhere apart from maybe Japan

Ordered. Thank you. I'm sure it's not great on it's own, but it will compliment a better lock on my pub bike.

Only one option seems to appear on the More Buying Options - Wheelies Outlet at £8.54?

    Has the offer expired?

Damn just missed out. I need a new bike lock that attaches easily to my bike when riding around. Anyone know of anywhere else to get a good cheap one?

If you want to see your bike again, don't buy a chain lock like this. Buy a D (aka U)-lock as they are the hardest to cut through. I have had 2 bike locks from 5mm to 18mm thick cut through in the past. If you are in London, Reading or anywhere with a high crime rate for bike thefts, get a decent lock. It is worth the spend to make sure your bike is still there when you get back.

I went for a Onguard Pitbull (Sold Secure Silver) and Onguard Akita Extender Cable to wrap through tyres and forks. The bracket is crap (don't use) but the lock is good. I thought it was a good balance of protection and cost (though the cost of a new bike is more).

There are some scary videos on You Tube showing how quickly a dedicated thief can get into a lock. Even scary is the video of some guy deliberately breaking into his own bike lock in increasingly blazen fashion on the middle of some US city and no one challenges him.

    Nothing but an Almax

    cheap locks = false economy.

A Kryptonite lock is what I would go for, it's costly but if you value your bike at all...

aren't they the ones you can open with a pen X)

    Many moons ago yep!

They changed the design years ago. Most cyclists seem to use Kryptonite, so they must be doing something right.

I'm bitter as I have had a bike stolen. Cheap lock...expensive mistake. Might just be that I'm more wary but having had a Kryptonite..my bike is still MY bike :D
