does anybody use these, are they any good?

It looks exactly the same as one I got from Robert Dyas... be aware wifi signals can cause problems with these units. I only really bought it for a remote control signal, I did plug it in to see how the picture quality was, the 2 tv's are about 50-60ft away with 2 internal walls in the middle, and the quality is un-watchable. But it is alright for remote control extender needs.

Bought similar from Maplins to view SKY upstairs and works a treat.

Got some AA wireless headphones, what can I say........ they certainly prove the theory that you get what you pay for!

I've always found av senders work fine for me, including this one. I bought the same one a while back for around £30. Obviously the quality of the signal will vary in different locations and depending on what other signals are already being sent around your house i.e. cordless phones, microwaves, routers etc... To me £15.99 seems to be a very good deal when looking at similar products which are usually at least twice the price.

This will go nutts if you have wireless internet at home. The microwave will bring this to a stand still

Great price, ordered. Now the Mrs will be able to watch 'The Weakest Link' when making my tea in the kitchen. No aerial sockets in the kitchen and she has to keep running in and out to the lounge and burning the food. Nice Xmas present, and I love all this teckie stuff!!

I find that picking the right channel (of 4) on mine leaves me with almost no interference.
OK, it's only up one floor in a semi, I accept that the signal will be stronger than if it was picking up over a long distance, but I am on to my second set of video sender in about 12 years, and I have no complaints,

If you have interference problems from WiFi that won't go away, try some powerline ethernet adaptors for network instead of WIFi, get vastly better network performance as a result and get ZERO interference with them on any of the channels, with wWiFi switched off.
My WiFi is swtiched on now too so I need to pick one particular channel for best results.

You can get 5.8Mhz units too, but they are much more expensive, and some people complain they are not as good at getting through walls as the 2.4Mhz ones (like these)

do these work ok with virgin media?
#10
Completely useless and not worth the money.
#11
How are they useless?

I have these and they work a treat. (I also have wifi)
#12
i have a similar set - they completely block out the WiFi signal when turned on - a 5ghz model might not have this problem

i use it upstairs on a CRT tv - you can get a pretty decent image but it takes a bit of moving about to find the best signal

overall if you can live with the issue of choosing TV vs internet (or use a netplug workaround) they're not bad for the money.
#13
ours work fine on virgin just make sure:

you have the xbox360 turned off when using it, the whole wireless controller thing messes it up
wireless internet on routers laptops etc also interfere keep them a few metres away its fine
the microwave thing is also true but shouldnt bother most people who keep their microwaves well away from their tv?

It's out of stock now :-(

I have used 3 different wireless routers (diff models) and only found the interference with the AV signal, it has no effect on WiFi at all... although WiFi is crap at best, which is why I use powerline ethernet, but the Wifi is left on for occasional laptop use.

Interefere with wi fi and vice versa. Microwaves interfere with both as well.
#17
Rubbish dont ever buy av senders on 2.4 if you use wifi they do not mix very well,I had a set they totally blocked my wireless router from working.
#18
I have seen this in Sainsburys in Croydon for £10.
#19
Work with a V+ Box?
#20
are these compatible with sky+

Yes, but as others have said the quality varies a lot. We use ours so that the kids can view TV in their bedroom, and the quality is poor. But the kids don't care, but it would annoy me.
#22
please for the love of wireless internet don't buy or use these. a second DVD player isn't that much anyway.
#23
look similar to the ones I bought from asda, remote controls dont work for virgin media and think alot of people around us must have wi fi because always having to fiddle on with channels

Bluetooth causes more interference than WiFi on mine.
