You said "link dosn't work"
Yet "Go to deal" button takes me straight to item
So what has your new link got to do with it?
#3
Would have got this if it showed the moon phase too...
#4
I've had a few Acctim clocks from Argos and they've all performed poorly in one way or another, like losing time and just breaking.

Actually, many clocks do have moon phases. For those who need to know them, they are a must.

How I pity you guys...

hi what is hosts file?

I think tazxxx is thinking it may of been hijacked
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file explains

Display it in Notepad and it should not normally need any more entries other than in this example:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

COLD. you cant call it a weather station if it tells you nothing about the weather outside. it merely shows you the ambient indoor tempreture, like as if you didnt already know if its hot, cold, or just right in your bedroom.... pfft. rant over... lol

Can you not see the weather symbols on the display?

Plus barometric pressure and predicted weather forcast, an outside sensor it not required in order for it to do that.

hi what is hosts file?

If you don't know what it is it's probably not the cause...unless you are using some kind of ad-blocking software?

No, The "Autoset" feature on this model is just a fancy name for a factory-set RTC clock chip that keeps time using a CR2032 lithium battery for backup.
It does automatically adjust for summer/winter hour changes though.

Looks ok to me, blue lighting gets me all the time - sold, cheers Op

Also available on Fleabay for £23.95 + £3.95 del

blue lighting gets me all the time

But they are so much more annoying than red!
I had to cover my old one up every night or I couldn't get to sleep!
#23
A program like Spybot - Search & Destroy, changes the hosts file and blocks the referring site - if that's any help.

I've already got one that does that, it's just that it never is the exact time.

Yes, it just has an internal CR2032 battery so it's not necessarily accurate.
I've bought one so I'll wait and see how accurate it is and take it back if it doesn't keep good time..

The answer is probably "not that accurate". I've had another acctim alarm for a few years now and it's now drifted by several minutes, with no way of correcting it! I guess it's a good way to make sure you buy a new clock every few years!!!

You can adjust the internal clock on this one by holding down the "set alarm" button for 5 seconds.

Thanks caparn1. I'll try it out when I get home!

Google it and learn.

Please tell me you're joking!? Not only is it more expensive but it's just a clock and thermometer with no weather prediction function ie not a weather station.

zzz. it can connect to up to 3 wireless thermometers so yes it is a weather station.

My point is you cant call this argos **** a weather station. its just a clock with a thermometer and both can be bought cheaper elsewhere!

No the fact is it's a clock with thermometer PLUS barometer and software to predict the future weather based on changes in air pressure, neither of which your item has which is just a dumb thermometer.

Bought mine, pleased with the auto dimmer function and looks smart. The in-built time set was a pain though, mine was out 3 minutes, was about to take it back when i read the above an have now set the time properley.
