NB: This has also Wind speed detection and rainfall sensor. The Argos description is poor. This is £99 at Maplin (http://www.maplin.co.uk/wireless-weathermaster-225680) Check the Maplin link for full details. Just picked one up and it seems really well made. Bargain!

The Argos site doesn't have the full info but I have just bought one from there and it is the same one. It has all the items in the Maplin photo.

Well, why does anyone want anything? Some people are interested in it. Others are not. That's what makes us who we are!

Here's a photo mine it to show that it is the same as the Maplin one:

@Kazzam, I want one of these, always have done.

@Britishbeef, Great find !!. Can you tell me if the rain and win sensor need to be plugged in hence the cables? Also is the temp sensor designed to be left out side in the wet, the weather device i brought looked like it would not with stand 5 mins in the british weather.

Thanks for finding this, much appreciated.

Hi stethorn.
Everything is transmitted wirelessly. The outdoor sensor is powered by 2 AA batteries and has a cable that runs to the wind sensor to pick up the wind data. The Temp sensor then transmits the temp and wind data back to the weather station wirelessly. The rain sensor is a stand-alone unit powered by 2 AA batteries and that too transmits the data back to the weather station wirelessly.

My last weather station's outdoor sensor failed after a year because it couldn't cope with the rain. This unit is much better as it has waterproof housing that slots over the whole sensor. As long as the sensor is mounted upright I can see no way that there could be any water ingress. Hope that helps!

I've got one reserved in watford waterfields if anyone wants it, after reading reviews on Amazon i've decided to leave it too.

Just installed mine and it seems to be working well!

Appreciate the posting, but like others will pass, I need something to reliably give me location data above & beyond whats posted at nearby weather stations for a possible small turbine site & solar panel fixings, ..so if you see any other wind measurement kit please pop a heads up here for anything you find!
cheers

Bought one of these from Maplin when the price was £39 (they drop it to this regularly). It lasted 6 months before water got into the rain/ temp transmitter and rusted the insides. I've now got a £39 clock/ indoor temperature sensor!
#39
Thanks for posting, installed mine this afternoon, works well so far, good wireless range. This was reviewed on the gadget show and came 2nd with just 2 Gs but the winner was about £165 (oregon) and this won on the forecasting challenge so for a shade over £20 I'm happy with it :)

bought mine and set up this evening - hope it lasts!
