If someone can get better spec 12" full featured laptop for less let me know, this is definitely hot

thats cheap too. have some rep. not necessarily a better laptop but its a good price for a dell.
#6
Now can anyone find something similar in a 13.3/4 shell?!
#7
really hot for 12.1' laptop
#8
I cant find one, but I know you used to be able to get a 12" Samsung Q210 for around this price, and to be honest its a better laptop. No bloatware either, which will be very bad on Acer.s

That is the best you will get I think.

You have the Dell XPS M1330 and cheaper integrated graphics solutions from dell but the samsungs are nice.

bit more money but a much more rounded spec (dedicated graphics for one).

Dell XPS M1210. Made in 2006 and is more powerful. Could cost less, not sure.

The M1210 has a T series processor. The (more expensive) P series is much better for an ultraportable, longer battery life and less heat generated (so can go in a smaller form factor).

I actually have an M1210 and has served me well for a while, but this is much better specified than mine for around the same price as I paid. Hot.

I've got an older Acer 2930 which had 3gb RAM and 250GB Hard Drive, bought from Comet for £450 in January.

As mentioned it does have bloatware but will take only an hour or so on initial set up to get right, but then you'd need about 30 minutes anyway to install security apps, office suites, etc.

Battery lasts for about 3 hours or so with a decent amount of usage which I think is brilliant but don't know if the newer processer changes this.

The best bit is definately the size, not too big that it's a chore to carry but not too small so you feel restricted for space on the screen or feel like a giant. In my opinion it's a very good, solid laptop good for everyday use.

i guess with Acers people want to know about the build qaulity, is it well made or does it feel cheap?

I think it is well made. I have it in a sleeve in my bag which does get knocked about a bit and it seems fine.

I still have the sticker on the lid at the top because the shiny lid looks like it scratches easy but other than that it's ok. Need to invest in a good skin really.

If you get the non-dedicated GPU version, it also generates minimal heat. The one I have has a T7600 2.33GHz (I think that's top of the line) CPU so it does everything I need. Battery currently pulls out near 6 hours (9 cell) despite being the dedicated GPU version. I have an integrated WWAN connection for 3G backup on the go (use the hotspot finder otherwise), screen is unparalleled for quality on this size and flip camera is actually useful. It also uses a more unique directional mic which is not seen on regular systems.

Build quality is stunning too. Speakers are actually of more than acceptable quality, you have 2 headphone out ports along with 1 mic in that can be converted to surround output along with dedicated media button set. Also, no other laptop in the 12.1" range has 4x USB 2.0 ports. I also find the light up battery level indicator invaluable and use it all the time.

On the whole, I would say the M1210 is far superior despite being 2-3 years older and the original price reflects that.
