any i've seen i've thought them a bit flimsy - particularly at the lower end of the market, though i haven't seen this particular model 'in the flesh'

not that it matters - they don't deliver to northern ireland. Grrrrrr

The free delivery makes that look quite a bargain edi, I've not used one of these but the spec is more than ok for the price with Quidco cashback.

Very good deal for 15.4" and spec :) Only thing I'd add on, is at least another 256Mb RAM ;)

From Crucial of course though Ray ;)

Comet do offer another 256meg of ram and double sized hard drive but the price goes to £399 then.

I think the Acer's are much better looking than the Dell's and you can usually get some good deals through Comet like this one.

One thing I think is essential you should know is the battery life isn't very good. My Aspire 3000 runs for about an hour off the battery but then I only use it around the house so it's not a problem for me.

Also note the 128mb graphics isn't a dedicated card. Some of your RAM will be used so as Ray has said it will probably be best to add another 256mb from Crucial.

Thanks for the feedback Greg :)

Hi Slinky.

I forgot to mention that Tesco also sometimes stock Acer laptops at excellent prices. The only problem is that they can be quite hard to get hold of and when they do have stock it sells very quickly. I tried twice with two different deals prior to purchasing from Comet.

Edi's find is definitely a bargain for those unable to take advantage of the tesco offer....

its a good idea to remove the battery from the laptop when u are using the mains power. Li-ion battery life degrades if charging the battery when it is not fully discharged. I had a toshiba laptop battery when new (18 months ago) would provide 2 hours life, now i'm lucky to get 30mins!!

If you can find this cheaper anywhere inc Tesco, Comet promises to price match

Hehe, my laptop went off on its 5 year warranty a while ago (3 years old) and they couldn't fix it so they sent me a new one... this one!! :D

I was quite pleased because it looks better, the screen's better, HDD is better, CPU's better and it's got wireless LAN. Overall it's a better lappy than I had before.

Guess what... HUKD looks GREAT in widescreen!!

Don't forget Tesco clubcard points too.

More reliable than waiting around for Quidco!
#16
If Comet will price match this, then waiting for cashback would be a bonus ;)

Would you recommend Comet to Tesco?

If the price is the same, you know you will definitely receive the Clubcard points, 300 points = £3.

Comet is 3.5%, £3.50 but not guaranteed.

Thanks
#18
I would recommend either :) It's up to you, but the Comet one is with free standard delivery too ;)

The Clubcard points could be worth more if you use them to buy goods rather than vouchers...
