what do you mean by optimised for Win 7?

Windows 7 should be installed by the manufactorer with all correct drivers, etc. and the system should work properly. Microsoft is notoriously slow with driver updates in their database. There is no need to buy Vista any longer. Manufactorers had enough time to install the new Windows version without the customer doing the job for them (unless you get a big discount for installing W7 yourself). On top of this customers get charged for the "free" upgrade up to £35 per computer.

Have a look at this article about problems with W7 upgrades, LOL.

Wow how many threads can you post your anti-W7 views on, what a ridiculous reason for voting cold that you think it should come with W7 on already, I might as well say vote all PC deals cold as one day there will be Windows 47 and that will be much better

Which would be better? This deal or this
http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/600024/ACER-AS5738G/tab/specification

£50 more but slightly faster processor, dedicated graphics and Win7 already installed.
Slightly smaller hard drive although I would never fill it anyway.

i think you should go for the one on comet. I think the ram on that might be ddr2 but if you wanted dedicated graphics, faster and dont care about capacity the comet one might be more suited for you.

I agree .

Seen MANY MANY posts of this, without any qualification of the reason; and it isn't anything like my own experience, nor of anyone else I have spoken too!

If a machine is shown as upgradeable, the benefit is it may well be CHEAPER than a pre-installed version, so get in and get a potential bargain!

My tip: Especially with a new machine - dump the setup as it stands, as you don't need to worry about you own stuff installed on it, and install fresh, quick & easy that way with less junk on you don't want!

Yay, finally bought my replacement lappy :-)

Got the Comet one. £487.33 for the Acer 5738G and a 4GB memory stick.
