Might not be the best spec (graphics card in particular quite weak) but this is a good find. geat value for most people (non gamers) voted hot

I don't think so Burny, personally for the money you paid I think you had a corking deal..most laptops only come with 80 or 120gb hard drives between the £300-500 mark. The fact you have had one with a dual core processor and 2gb of ram, and a reliable manufacturer (my wife has had an Acer for a year now and the screen and build quality is excellent) for the price of a single core processor laptop with double the ram is an exceptional deal.

Personally unless you want it for gaming, I dont think you would get better value for money....as in the reviews from peeps that have bought it from Play.com for considerably more......

Gets my vote for anyone looking for a budget priced laptop if in Asda nationwide for sure.

core2duo are better than dual cores, right?

Yep they are the the second generation dual core chips. Bit like comparing Pentium I with Pentium II.

core 2 duo are supposedly 40% more efficient, not faster but efficient

can't compare this one because it's only a Celeron, the Acer is far better.

The Play review states that this has got a built in webcam.

Can you lease confirm this (or otherwise).

Thanks,

Hi Burny126

I rang various local branches (I live in East London) and they were all sold out - almost gave up and then remembered that I'm taking daughter back to Nottingham Uni this Sunday and, after a quick Google, discovered that the Spondon branch is just a few miles from the Uni (and only a couple 'out of my way') - so what do you think my chances are of still finding any left by then? Oh, and is the branch easy to find?

Hope u don't mind being treated as the 'Asda stockist'!!

I got mine today :D last one in stock, the dvd thing you take to the stockist had the 449 but under it the laptop was specified as 359 so it was ok. Very good laptop though and i installed generals zero hour to see how it would run and its perfect, also laptop makes practically no noise which is great. One gripe though which could have been my fault when i closed the program first time around, the mouse keeps clicking for no reason, like im typing this or something else and the mouse will click itself in or if im in another window it may click itself away to anotherwindow or go mad changing screens lol, will try to sort it out now but anyone have any ideas?

Cheers burny

hi downshifter98,
The spondon store is really easy to find its off the main a52 which runs between derby and nottingham you should have no problem finding it just take the chaddesden/spondon turning off the a52 regarding stock they still had 10+ yesterday so good luck.

Hi Burny126

sorry for the slow reply shifter, was from Cardiff store. Anyone else experiencing some slight lag in the words being processed every now and then, ive heard it can happen with alot of laptops and ive googled it and found a few threads for this model but i think they resolved it, doesent really bother me though as its rare. I had a mouse error where it would keep clicking all over the place for no reason but i disabled drag and tap in the alps touchpad thing if anyone else experiences that just disable it. Im very impressed though, its so quiet to which is great, dont even know its on.

Hi Burny126

Just thought I would say that I managed to pick up the last one from the Spondon branch - young chap assistant was certain that all were gone but managed to find one buried amongst the inferior (and more expensive!) 5720z version. Very happy with it so far......and Microsoft works is included although unadvertised - very cool running and, after an hour, still no fan noise!

So thanks again for good spot.
