T7450? I can only find reference on Intel's website to a P7450...

Anyway, this is worth 2003 clubcard points and 3% quidco too.

Acer are also signed up to Windows 7 upgrade, so this would be eligible.

Nice, I have the slightly lower spec from Argos and have been totally chuffed with this laptop.

Easily contends with the Tosh/Vaio/HP I've owned over the last couple of years.

Have some heat!

looks decent, this got built in mic?

i have the acer 6930g from argos and yes it does. If you plan to use VOIP like skype regularly id advise you to buy a VOIP headset and webcam for better qaulity audio and video. ive connected my creative fatality headset to my easyinternetcafe usb hub/sound card both items i picked up from hotukdeals.

Just to confirm this can work out at 2003 clubcard points.

Currently you get double club card points on all Tesco direct orders, plus 1000 points on all laptops over £400 (ends today 28th July). So thats, 499 + 499 + 1000 + 5 ( if home delivery) = 2003.

Quidco works out at £12.74, every little helps!
#7
Silly question what are 2003 clubcard points worth ???

Got this lappy 2 weeks ago £508@ comet 8-(. I could'nt find a better spec'd lappy for £508 and if you know sumbody who works there works out at £433 fantastic deal.I know because i told my friend about this deal & he bought one using his staff discount = 10% off = £49.90 + 2003 clubcard = £20.03=£433ish. H&R added.
p.s I'm still happy with my deal because its great alround lappy.Computerman do you know what it means by carry in on the extended warrenty because i cant seem to be able to find out where there's an acer centre near me & postage to plymouth might be a bit pricey,North east area.

yes i do i bought the 2 years acer advantage warranty for £27 at acerdirect http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/AcerAdvantage_Extended_Service_Agreement_-_2_year_-_carry-in_SV.WNBAF.E06/version.asp, that deal was posted a few months ago on on hotukdeals, they shipped the warranty pack with next day delivery. I had to ring acer advantage to find out that they get a courier to pick up the laptop. Dont bother reading the Q+A on acerdirect the sales team there are clueless, if you are unsure about the product best ring aceradvantage.

well they have been out of stock for months see hotukdeals post http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/392080/2-year-extended-acer-laptop-warrant/showthread.php?t=392080&page=1, so it does not look like they will be receiving any more stock, try other retailers or email them to see when they will get new stock.

im typing on a variant of this laptop now, 3gb ram, blu ray player, 9300 nvida,

its a great laptop and i paid 52 for an extra 2 years warranty well worth it imho
#18
just found stock of the 2 yr acer warranty on the acer store but it is £42 not worth it.
http://store.acer-euro.com/home/notebooks.html?s=11&l=en&p=2&i=149 your better of going to acerdirect and getting the 3 year one for a few pounds more.

oh dear looks like tescos are idiots, that would explain why the tesco price comparison was comparing the price to the comet model which also had 1gb gddr2 9600gt. Im going to edit the title, thanks for letting us know, you could refund it as technically its their mistake.

Sorry, excuse my limited knowledge, but what would the difference mean between the 1gb 9600m GT (ddr2) instead of 512mb (ddr3)?

gddr2 ram is half the speed of gddr3 ram, so 1gb gddr2 is slightly slower in performance compared to 512mb gddr3. I posted this deal mainly because i thought it had gddr3 graphics.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9600M-GT.9449.0.html
"
The gaming benchmarks below were conducted with a 9600M GT containing 512 MB GDDR3 graphics memory and a fast Core 2 Duo CPU. Using a slower CPU and / or slower memory, a slower performance has to be expected (e.g., 20% slower with GDDR3). " i think they meant gddr2 at the end.
this is the screenshot from my acer 6930g which has 1gb gddr2 9600gt from argos.

thanks again computerman....heres a link to reg & for windows 7 upgrade http://www.acer.co.uk/acer/service.do?LanguageISOCtxParam=en&ctx2.c2att1=17&CountryISOCtxParam=UK&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=1797485490
i think you have to reg your lappy with acer first, then reg for the window$ upgrade.the postage for my upgrade is £12.87 posted from europe? about the g/card,if i remember rightly the ddr3 version is 3% faster.i'm sure i read it on here http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

How does anyone find the screen viewing angles? It seems the vertical viewing angle is very narrow, it's not possible to get an even brightness across the screen. I've just returned a Dell Studio 1555 as this had the same problem and I couldn't live with it.

I think I might contact Tescos to see what they say regarding the video card, it's definitely misadvertised...although I'm not sure what the real world difference would be.

i think the viewing angles are good and the screen is very sharp, but could be better, im not too bothered about viewing angles as i have connected this to my samsung 40" tv via hdmi. Please let us know what tesco have to say about the error on their website.

I have dropped Tesco an email in the first instance, I'll report back when I get a response.

The laptop has also shipped with Vista 32bit, would there be any performance benefit from switching to 64bit seeing as it is fitted with 4gb RAM?

The 6930G is on the list....

Is the ram DDR2 for sure or DDR3?

Also could I put DDR3 ram in this after?

this 4gb ddr2, ddr3 is much more expensive and it requies the motherboard to support ddr3. only a handful of laptops have ddr3. ddr2 sodimm is 200pins, ddr3 sodimm is 204 pins, therefore ddr3 will not fit. ddr3 uses 1.5v whereas ddr2 as shown in the screenshot uses 1.8v
here are the details of my acer 6930g i bought from argos.

everest says it uses a samsung screen but the nvidia control panel says seiko.

Does that mean it is still 1GB DDR2? Is there anyway from the information they have given to tell what size it is?

Sorry guys. I got an email from tesco today saying that the product has been discontinued and will not be coming back in stock. So if I were you, I'd pop over to comet and get it for £549 - seems to be the cheapest place now.
