Seems a pretty good spec with the bluray and full HD screen which is a costly upgrade from usual 1366/768 screens

edit: from product spec says FUllHD and so do some reviewers but tech spec says 1366*768 (bleh see below)

the 6920 has a better graphics card right?

this one is not blu ray i think

bluray is one thing common to all descriptions on amazon and product title though - the screen is the thing im not sure of
all the models have loads of different variations on them so there isn't much ability to say '69xx has this or that' i dont think

Wasn't this the one at Tesco for £399 (now expired)?

Tempted, just for the decent res screen

no the tesco one had 4gb ram an amd processor and dunno but definitely had the low res screen
tbh id not buy this until emailing amazon to confirm the screen resolution as there is conflicting info here

Great little laptop

/Smug mode on

Got this for £340 from Additions direct last week before they excluded electricals

/Smug mode off

Well kitted out and bluray/webcam nice lil extras - only slight quibble is the HUGE amount of BS / trial software that comes installed on it - I did a frsh install rather than sit there removing it

Otherwise pretty good price (ebuyer are in a similar price range though)

im typing on one now - albeit without the full hd screen amazing laptop and a great buy

Not quite sure what you mean - Additions had this for crazy price of £579 - but with the 30% off and topcahsback tracked came in below the Amazon pric by some way - spec is identical - u cant see from the additions page but my is the same as ur post ;)

@MrBrightside1987 - Thanks - will check it out next time
#13
Forgot to mention, the free version is all you need. The Paid version has advanced features that you'll probably never use *waits for some smartass to come and say that they do*

additions lists your machine as wxga which is 1366*768 not the full res hoping for with this one unless yours is misdescribed and is infact full hd?
#15
This only outputs full hd on a tv.

My friend has this and he told me that the screen is - 16' TFT 1366 x 768 ( WXGA ) - CineCrystal
#16
looks good how do i know what i can and cant remove - bearing in mind i watch a lot of blu ray on it so still need this any help appreciated
#17
think ill go via additions using the 15% discount that works (xx338) which brings it down to £485.63 and the 8% quidco total then £446.78

def the one with blu ray and not the other 6930g? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aspire-16-inch-Laptop-Premium-GeForce/dp/B001G7PI2Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1241460909&sr=8-2
stupid amazon if so lol :)
perhaps worth orderign then demanding vouchers for inconvenience :)
#21
Yup , i remember him kicking up a fuss, with the full hd thing and it had the logo 1080p PLAYBACK

In the end he wasnt to fussed as he kept it, has a 1080p tv.

Anyway here are the pics he sent me, not so great as its on his iphone ( Measly 2mp!)

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s276/johnbarrius/IMG_0003.jpg

You can clearly see the res in the pic below

not that the pics show what he ordered thanks for them - hope he got some sort of compensation from amazon as the 1080p is mentioned a few times and the 1366 only once.
weird the reviews mention the screen itself to be 1080p also
#23
same price at play, but you can use the 5% code + QuidCo.

2MP is the same as a 1920x1080 screen, you only really need higher if you're printing it out (or showing it off on a 4MP 30" monitor. The poor quality is just because it's a crap camera.

An important note though:

1080p/1920x1080 on a 16" screen is not necessarily a good thing.

Most things in the computing world currently are a fixed number of pixels, so on screens that have a high resolution (lots of pixels) this means everything looks small. So almost all writing is smaller and harder to read(web pages, documents, music playlists), but windows are also smaller giving you room to have several of them. If you've got good eyesight then you might enjoy having the extra working space but you should be well aware that things on this computer will generally be smaller than most.

Of course, web browsers tend to have zoom these days and you can reduce the resolution. But both methods are just stop-gap and clunky and it's best to consider whether a high resolution screen suits you in the first place, especially on a laptop where it can't be changed.

Do we know for sure which model this is?. Amazon page mentions LX.AUU0X.151 and LX.AUU0X.214. This must be LX.AUU0X.214 as the other one does not have a Blu-Ray drive.

BTW, this model is not listed on acer.co.uk

It's on googles cache...

search for "LX.AUU0X.151 product catalogue" under the results on acer.co.uk click on cached.

That model is definitely the wxga model without bluray.

The one on play.com is LX.AUU0X.214, same screen but with bluray...

It looks like Amazon have quoted the wrong model number in technical details, but the correct model number in product details and it is in fact the same one as on Play.com for same price.

I wonder why it was removed from the web site. May be it's due to be replaced by a newer model.

Edit: looks like the new model is 6935.

Damn, wish I got that tesco deal

Does anyone know if you can connect this lappy to a HD telly to watch blu-rays on the TV (with the HDMI?)?
