Good price find but the product is not upto scratch. My Dad bought one of these from Ebuyer and returned it due to shadowing as a result of a lack of DVI, my advice would be avoid at all costs. Wait until the other 24" drop price.

only if it had DVI... oh well...

I am still waiting for this one which I ordered.

good price for a 24in monitor but no dvi or hdmi and poor contrast ratio.....there are much better 22in monitors from samsung and hp for the money...less is more
and after my experiences with Acer support as i was missing some dvd software...no thanks, they treat their customers like a bunch of idiots/non-technie numpties and they couldnt care less....
though they soon changed their tune when i explained that i have 20+ years computing experience, including 5 freelance.....but it was too late...i wouldnt buy another Acer product

You can't beat the price though if, like me, you're after a 1920x1200 screen... Cheaper than buying on Ebay ;-)
#12
You can't run such a large screen on VGA. This is a white elephant, not a bargain.
#13
I reckon the poster intended to say D-Sub connection rather than VGA connection... This is not a white elephant for the intended audience... i.e. those who cannot afford to pay for a more expensive brand.

This is not a fault of the monitor, or VGA (sort of). VGA is analogue and cheap VGA cables cause interference, which comes out looking like "ghosting" and "shadowing". I had a similar problem
The reason you don't get this with DVI is because DVI is digital and thus not susceptible to interference.
If you buy a decent VGA cable (one that's properly shielded) then it will look fine.

I don't know where you've got this idea, you can run this resolution just fine. I'm sitting directly opposite a guy who has a monitor very similar to this one (Acer, same resolution) and it's running on VGA fine.

That said, it's not an amazing monitor by any stretch, but it is a great bargain for a 24" screen none the less.

Yep my ebay el cheapo 5 quid vga cable for the xbox 360 was not shielded, and it was a disaster, it was like the image was 'smeared' to the right a cm so you saw double. Had to get the official £18 shielded one. Sometimes paying more is better.
#16
Yup, it's actually the same with SCART cables, but it's much more pronounced with VGA simply due to it's design.
As a side note, if anyone's looking for a 360 VGA cable, the GAMEWARE ones from Game work perfectly (they're shielded).
#17
It uses a TN panel and has VGA connection, need I say more?
#18
Yes, you need.
#19
Yeah, with VGA cables you need to make sure they are shielded with ferrite cores else the image will be susceptible to interference.
#20
can this be used to watch tv on, with or without a pc?
#21
It does NOT have a TV Tuner built in, so you'd need a separate device (either a PC with a tuner card or a freeview box that has VGA out, which is probably not going to be cheap).
#22
Has anyone received one and is able to comment on the supplier / the product ?

Definitely - a good quality VGA cable can easily drive a monitor like this however a cheap cable will be very obvious especially if there's any other electrical equipment near the VGA cable.
