Direct link: http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/484261/ACER-AOA150-AW

It is my first deal, so hopefully all the necessary stuff is in the right places.

Yes you do

At this price it is a good deal but also goes to show how special the Akoya from Sainsburys was.
#10
Currys won't price match...just been on the phone with 2 different reps (the first was actually very rude)...and they insist that to price match netbooks the model number & specs have to be identical. All they'd offer was a £20 discount.

Not saying robot1000 didn't get the price match....but he maybe just got in early enough so it wasn't on their radar...or got someone on the phone that didn't notice the hard drive specs.

Anyone with an external CD/DVD writer will want to upgrade to XP asap. If you are not really a techie, then the linux install will suffice nicely.

Just tried to order one online but get the message:

Sorry, this item is out of stock in your area. Please remove the ACER AOA150 -AW from your basket and choose an alternative.

Damn!!!
#13
How do you put windows on it and how much would it cost?

You need an external CD/DVD writer, a copy of XP (at least SP2) and a half an hour of spare time.
DVD writer can be easily had for £25 or less

Just sent the link to my cousin... Ideal for her lad's school work.

You both use the word simple, and yet there is nothing simple about getting windows to install from a USB stick.

There are some instructions online which, if followed correctly, (and if they work!), can make it easy enough for the layman to follow. But getting Windows to install from USB is anything but 'simple'.

In fact it is quite complicated, and most people who follow the instructions will have absolutely no idea what they are actually doing. Not a problem if it works, but good luck if it doesn't, or if you mess up!

These netbooks go fast. I placed an order this morning, but it is not available in my area anymore. You should try to price match with Currys etc.. like the othes suggested. personally I don't know what they say to get these deals, it just doesn't work for me. no idea why :?

I just called Currys and then gave them the product code and asked them to price match with Comet. They found it on the Comet site and then Price matched it. I don't think they bothered comparing specs, they must have checked the photo and the item title

Not really. The procedure has been simplified and polished a lot. Preparing the USB stick is now matter of a few mouse clicks.
The latest GUI program:

Agreed, not as easy as it sounds.

Though installing Vista/Windows 7 is much easier than XP.

Believe it or not, i'm running SlingPlayer on mine and it works flawless too. I'm amazed at the versatility of this atom processor.
