Wow, this is easily the best £300 laptop deal going = HEATTTTTTTTTTTT!
#11
doesnt have hdmi and is lower mhz :p
if you dont need those extras then fair play
#12
Just got one myself after "losing" out on another laptop tesco had yesterday which went out of stock.
#13
I ordered the Compaq earlier --- but may have gone for this instead, because of the HDMI and full keyboard with numeric pad. Not sure which one is better?

I went onto Tesco site and there doesn't appear to be any way to cancel an order online!!! Just says will be dispatched from warehouse shortly. Are you supposed to ring up and cancel???
#14
Guys! Why does it say just "Wireless b", that will make Wireless at 11mbps instead of 54Mbps right?! OR is it just a silly specifications' error.

Anyway Head added! 8)
#15
Just ordered for £251.28 with staff discount, collect from store tomorrow.

Cheers OP.

Description is wrong on the other, they are both 2.1 and the celeron is a faster processor.
#19
Is this better than the similarly specced Dell Inspiron 1545 for £20 more?

I need to be able to do the following:

Play 1080p movies to my tv via HDMI
Play poker on PKR (3d graphics)
Have 3 office applications open at the same time while listening to music via itunes

Is this the right machine for me???

Not all at the same time!! Three separate scenarios!!
1. Play 1080p movies via hdmi
2. Play poker on PKR (3d graphics)
3. Have 3 office applications open at the same time while listening to music via itunes
#25
Should do fine. One of my laptops is a celeron dual core 1.6ghz with 3gb of ram and it plays 1080p perfectly. vlc + ffdshow = win.
Heat ^^

Taken the plunge!!

I think this is a great deal IF you must have HDMI out.
My personal view is the CQ56-103SA at £239 is the better laptop in terms of performance (based on CPU) though it does have slightly less memory (1GB) and hard disk space (70GB), based on the slightly older DDR2 clock chipset.

Choices, choices!
Have some heat OP! :)

Will this justify me paying an extra £80 odd quid over the previous emachines from asda which was selling for £197 at some stores?
btw i dont play any games.

thanks
#29
lol - I love this statement on the website "The actual product differs from the one shown on the web. Apologies for the inconvenience" hmmmm...
#31
This machine is great, bought mine for £299 last year. Amazing for that price so this is astonishing, I have played UNREAL TOURNAMENT III on this smoothly as well as watched HD videos.
#32
'This machine is great, bought mine for £299 last year. Amazing for that price so this is astonishing'

So it's last years model and has dropped 20 quid in price since then. Tesco aren't being very clear about what is being sold either:

'The actual product differs from the one shown on the web"

and it might come with Windows 7 premium or Windows 7 basic. This deals as cold as ice.
#33
can someone say if it is. windows premium or basic.
banned#34
ordered one...
and quidco tracked £7.12
#35
If you are concerned about the Spec/Picture just google the model number or look on the Acer website.

It gives the full spec. and confirms Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit.

I have bought mine, but also bought one of the Compaq ones yesterday when the price of that reduced so now I have 2 laptops on the way. I will have to return one of them when I decide which one to keep. At the moment this one is my favoured one.

That Celeron is dual core and would be noticeably better than this P320, as shown by benchmarks. It would probably be cooler too. Think before you mock someone about something you clearly don't understand.

The other deal is better value, at least based on performance. But people seem to like Acer more than they do HP: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/html/awards-2010/index.php?pageId=1
