I recently bought 2 of these one differed with built in cam which was £70 more and the other had cam plus 3 year warranty and free mouse and bag and dedicated graphics GeForce® Go 7300 £150 more from here Very good laptop. You get one chunk of 1 GiG ddr 2 4200 memory in so you can put another one side by side to make it dual channel, better for vista. £499 is good.

Any of the techies think that is a better deal?

I'd go for this one with the better graphics chip..particularly if you want to play games.

If you can afford it go for the dodgy graphics card. I noticed in an earlier post someone said it had a dedicated graphics card. I keep repeating myself I know but 90% of laptops in this day and age do not come with full on dedicated graphics. I can guarantee if a laptop says 256mb graphics that less than half of that is really true gddr memory.

The rest us pulled from your ddr system memory.

But still these do a job, I just don't like the way manufacturers advertise these things, as if they are true dedicated graphics and charging as much if not more than a real graphics card!!! They are all in it for the money and rip our eyes out with this new marketing technique.

But on the whole, yes pay the extra and get one with one of these so called graphics cards in. They are not brilliant but they do a decent job and will play games and take Vista Aero at it's max with ease. Just letting you know that Vista is graphics card hungry so getting some kind of gddr memory in your laptop will make it run Vista very smooth compared to standard on board.

(For those who don't know; gddr memory is dedicated graphics memory that you get on graphics cards, it is different to your normal ddr memory you put in your system, that is why these graphics card that pull memory from your system are not really great, they are using memory that really is not up tot he task as gddr memory is specially designed for rendering graphics whereas normal ddr memory is not).

You should be able to return within 14 days no questions I asked I think.
#14
Under the distance selling act you are allowed a 7 day cooling off period if purchased online. Just return it mate, legally they can't refuse a refund.

Then buy the cheaper one. ;)
#15
Just phone them up - I am sure they will refund the difference.

Thanks been looking for one around this spec for £500

Saw this last week on the site advertised at Comet at pounds 530 - PCWorld did a price match (50 pounds saving). Today Comet doing it at this price so went in to PC world and they gave me the 30 pounds difference. 80 pounds saving on a computer I was happy to buy for 580! Many thanks (and when I can work out where the pound sign is I will be happier still!).
