Seems like the only way to please people on here with computers is to offer them for free.

It's a bit over your price (£349) but we just went for one of these yesterday after Dixons went out of stock on the refurb I posted above. On the plus side it is new, there's a code in the voucher forum to get £9 off, you get 349 Clubcard points, you can get 3% Quidco back and you can get it delivered to a store near you. We are picking ours up tomorrow. Hope that helps.

nice constructive comment - NOT!

or are you a little peeved at paying over the odds lol

Settle down petal! How constructive was your post? If either of you had provided a link to a current better price then fair enough, but without, it just comes across as smug gloating. If there is a better deal out there then share it with us - instead of making "ner-ner-ner-ner-ner" type posts.

Kind regards

WTF!!??!?

I was just informing Csiman that the £329 deal was still achievable last week:? As for a link, you posted it yourself. Current best deal off the top of my head would be £5 voucher from TD catalogue till spit + £8.91 QC although there may be a better voucher on here than the £5 one, oh and double clubcard points if that's still running (making an extra £6 in vouchers).

Then my apologies if I misread your comments Shengis.

No worries. If you work through what I said above it still comes to about £330 with discounts, not hard cash but still......:)

Best code I could find on here was to get £9 off. Tried double points code but that didn't work sadly.

Just checked and double points finished Sunday. Oh well.

Picked it up yet? Make sure you burn the rescue disks as the recovery partition doesn't seem to work ;-)
#21
Thanks for the tip. It didn't arrive today as it happens - they think it'll be tomorrow.

Rescue disk creation wouldnt work on mine at all. Its is well out of order they dont provide a windows disk imho.

I ended up using disk imaging software on to 5 dvds once it was set up as I liked it (i.e no McAfee etc !)

Odd. Unless the rescue partition is missing it should work. Press the 'e' button to launch the empowering technology toolbar (or do it from the start menu), select eRecovery management (2nd from right) then 'burn disk'. See rubbish picture below. If that doesn't work then it is indeed screwed.

thanks but that is exactly what I tried for hours. It just wouldnt burn the disk and just hung.

quite happy with the acronis backup as I did a validate and disks work fine.

would still have liked to have a factory default disk though :x
#25
Yeah I thought you probably tried that. Still the pic may help others.... Fwiw I did the same as you, set it up as I wanted it then ran Trueimage on it so i've got a 15GB backup on a portable drive. Much less hassle than using the restore disks. Tried contacting Acer for some restore disks?

I rang but they wanted £50 for them. Not that fussed to pay that! ;-)
