Fantastic price  IF all goes to plan

Hi,
what does it mean by 15% refund in January?
Very nice deal for a 120gb ver.! Voted hot :)
#4
Thats exact model I have, fantastic price. They are great little laptops - paid £229 from mine at PCWorld only a few months ago.
#5
seriously, is this a misprice? the lesser a110 is nearly £3 more!
#6

Can't read french I'm afraid... :)

Seriously though, those are (presumably) for the french site. Anyway, they're massive in Europe, so it's inevitable that a few disgruntled will have a moan somewhere - this happens to even the best retailers.

I think the OP missed the most important offer...

can u install XP or similar?
#10
Yes you can install XP, also a bargain price, i have ordered and paying over 3 months around 57 quid each month plus delivery in 3 days, and a bottle of bubbly and 15% cashback in vouchers which is nice.

Ordered Heat and Rep added

I was looking at these in Tesco tonight; I'm sure the white case is the 8gb ssd cheaper model and the blue case is the 120gb model......? Didn't notice model numbers, so it's probably just me being >>THICK<<
#12
Hay all, I'm in the middle-ish of ordering one of these, but it has a 'add voucher code' box - I dont have any but it wont let me leave it blank and by-pass it!! can someone purleease post or pm me a code (or even tell me where Im b@ggering up) as Id like to order this before I go to bed :) thanks x
#13
To clarify it's not a 'monetary refund' it's a credit to your account.

It's money that you can only spend in their store. It's not same as getting a proper 15% refund, the OP needs to clarify this.
#14
This is actually one of the best netbooks going, despite the price. However, battery life is pretty weak (2 hours max).

If that's a factor, and you don't mind paying more, the Samsung NC10 is really impressive. Friend gets 6 hours use out of it.
#15
re my last post - I found a way past it!! would have been nice to have a code for a freebie, but got it none the less so thanks OP :) nice bargain, I was going to pay I think about £250 for similar :O
#16
Personally gonna continue using a laptop until these things start to go below the £100 mark. Give it hmmm 3-6 months and I'm sure there will be one netbook around that will be near the £100 mark.

Anyone for predictions?
#17
+ I dunno.

Poor battery life
Inadequate ram
A slow, energy consuming and delicate hard drive instead of a fast efficient robust flash drive

IMO these are things I don't want in a netbook. It kinda defeats the point for me.

To claify it is vouchers, not credit or real money. There are loads of similar deals posted by this company tonight and everyone has noticed the vouchers. Does not make it a bad deal, but something to be aware of. Also it could be jut £5 off a laptop bag or £5 off next game purchasse. not sure how the vouchers will be placed.
#19
is out of stock already?
#20
Thanks a lot for this. Best deal I've seen on this, even without a 15% credit. So have ordered.

I've been a lurker on this site, for about a year, so thought what better time to join than half past midnight on a cold December night :-)

If I was to drop one of these I dont think Id be very worried about the hard drive

Unfortunatley the flash drives that end up in netbooks tend to be the incredibly slow ones. Ironically, the hard drive version of this netbook is significantly faster than the flash drive equivilant. And 512mb is fine for linux and basic tasks, its a lot lighter then windows. The battery life is a problem but this is as cheap as chips ...
#23
Agreed - shame about battery life (although Ive seen 3 hrs claimed) for the money it was a no brainer though, mines ordered.
Goes w/o saying but I will lots of long life batteries available on fleabay etc...
#25
For me it was between this and the Samsung NC10.

NC10 has bigger screen, 40gig more hard drive space, 512Mb more ram and XP installed, and the biggie for me a 6-7 hour battery life (compared to about 2 to 3 hours on this Acer - not very good for devices like this)

But... at a cost, normally about £100 more (or £130 in this case).

I like the fact AAO has a smaller form factor than the NC10, so it's easier, lighter to take with you in a rucksack etc,
It's cheaper, I already have an XP licence so can install that myself (Have tried linux, and it's not for me, too much effort to do simple things, huge learning curve, anyway no arguments - personal choice).

So the only main shortfalls for me on Acer are short battery life + lower memory

Since I'm paying roughly £170 for this, add another £50-60 for a 6 cell battery, and about a tenner for more ram (albeit, I know you have to take the whole machine apart to install the memory on the Acer, But I'm comfortable with that), then I have a machine that is smaller and ligher than the NC10, and has a long battery life for roughly £240-£250)
#26
totally ignore that last comment o)
sorry wrong netbook!

This laptop is far from being a decent buy - quality is bad all round.

A) It is not a laptop
B) How long have you owned one?
C) Look at the reviews from people who have these (Play, Amazon etc.) and you will see that the majority opinion differs from yours.
D) Regardless of whether you like it - it is a good deal, far cheaper than Dixons, Play, Amazon etc.
E) This is a Deals board :whistling:

I

I'm using mine now and it's great quality, connects instantly and is made really well. Do you actually own one??

Anyone thinking of getting one, I can highly recommend it and I'm fussy!
#34
What happens if the laptop breaksdown? Who is responsible? - do you send it to Cdiscount or to the manufacturers?

My friends are warning me off buying from the site because of what happens if there is a fault.

ditto

I love mine too, its a perfect blend of weight and functionality, build quality is excellent

shame this is out of stock - I would have bought another for the GF
#38
I bought one of these for 199 about a month ago, the hard drive is fast, the processor does all i ask of it, I put another gig of ram in for a tenner, wireless is reliable, theres loads of tutorials on youtube on adding ram and making an XP install on a 1gb USB stick. . . I love it to bits, and sold my 15" laptop days later. The battery life isnt amazing at 2.5 hours but 3rd party batteries are popping up cheaper and cheaper all the time that give 6+ hours. . when I need a bigger battery, I'll buy one. . . I bought another last week that was faulty, from play.com, but they refunded my return postage, and have a new one on the way. .

Its horses for courses, and dont underestimate it, it has plenty of poke, runs all I throw at it and its brilliant for taking to bed as it plays full screen divxs no probs at all. . . .
#39
Anyone had theirs shipped yet?
#40
Mine was supposed to be delivered today (ordered for next day delivery on early Saturday morning), but I got an email today telling me there was an incident on the A40 which is why it is delayed and that I should be getting it tomorrow.

So hopefully it should be with me tomorrow.
