I actually got one of these from Comet, but got them to price match Tesco. Replaces my Advent 4211 which was having technical difficulties...

It'sa little heavy, but size wise works really well for me and certainly quick enough for most tasks...

price is in :
comet : 499.99
BT shop : 511.99
Play :449.99

Not sure if the spec is correct, mine has Bluetooth and also has a 2GHZ T7300 processor.May be worth double checking

Having a quick look around it would seem that the Tesco one is a lower spec than the Comet one (which makes my price match a bit of a result!) just mentioned it as the price comparisons listed may be for different specs...

i remember this acer 12" going for £349 @ comet

may/june it was

Designed by BMW Design works, the chassis is strong and stylish

Lightweight; Decent battery life; Great pictures on screen; Impressive features list

Acer generally do several varients of each model.

What's the chassis like on the 12" one? It's bigger brothers have lots of cheap flexible plastic and a poor keyboard.

Finding it quite good actually, once you get past the grey / beige styling it feels pretty solid and keyboard has a nice feel. Trackpad occassionally has a mind of it's own but that may just be down to the drivers...

Had the Advent 4211 previously and a Dell XPS M1330 before that, not quite as stylish as the Dell but speed wise feels a fair bit quicker

seems a good price for the spec, tempted but a little heavy for my liking and personally prefer a laptop battery to last 5 hours or so.

Acer uses the same model number for different specc'ed laptops (a pain!)

What rubbish! I have had two Acers and never had any problems like that with them. They are strong sturdy machines.

I think you need to be careful in making comparisons liked this. The 5920 you have linked to is a completely different type of machine with a conventional 15.4" screen whereas this thread is about a much smaller sub notebook model with a 12".

For those interested, I'd seriously consider having a look at the Dell thread on here. I've just picked up the following machine:

Dual Core 1.8Ghz Intel Processor
320Gb HDD
Fingerprint reader
3Gb Ram
15.4" Widescreen
256Mb GeForce graphics card
8x DVD Rewriter
1.3M Pixel webcam built in
6 Cell Battery pack with 95W charger

All for £327 inc VAT delivered. It may be a refurbished model but mine is only 15 days old and comes with a full 1 year warranty (if it turns up etc).

A good deal but as a previous poster pointed out a very different machine to this one, as you get less power and performance but reduced weight and size footprint with the 12.1 inch screen.

Sounds interesting... any chance of a link? I can't find the thread...

Very true - sometimes portability is more important than lugging a brick around. I only use a laptop for when the kiddie is off school and chilling out in the evenings so it doesn't really leave the sofa. I've got another 8 machines dotted around the house and workshop for doing "proper work" on ;)

Here you go bud:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/233963/free-delivery-59-off-selected-syste/

Offer is on until the 4th September so bide your time, keep pressing the F5 key and grab anything that looks interesting into your basket before someone else does. Please remember that if its not what you want then release it from your basket so someone else can benefit (it defaults to this after 15 minutes anyway).

It took me a couple of days to bag the type of system I was after - if you go for the 1510 system then try and get at least 2gb ram (2 x 1024mb) and a 160gb drive or above.

I did post a link but I don't know if that post got moderated and is awaiting approval or if it just vanished into Cyberspace.

Indeed - for portability and ease of lugging around you can't beat a small screen laptop.

If the majority of your work is done at home (like me) then the bigger the screen the better.

I think this is very good deal for any person who like have a 12' laptop

This is a great laptop for the price, good work for your first deal.

People will always draw poor comparisons, check out the EEE PC threads people always suggest full size laptops as an alternative... Might as well come on here and say that cathedral city is cheaper and tastes nicer...

Rep added BTW

not to keen on the design from the inside, other wise it is a good laptop.
