I have had reliable info that Asda will be selling the Acer Aspire 3694wlmi BL50 Laptop with 80gb drive tomorrow for £179.00. Very limited stock, in stores only.

This all I have on it, so don't ask me questions. Take it or leave it.

-Further posts indicate it is £275 not £179

#8
i want one! where do i get it from, i.e. is it across all stores?
#9
I believe it is Nationwide and it's going to be limited stock.
A chap my O/H spoke to at Asda, Ipswich was going to put these out today and he was told not to, until tomorrow when the offer starts.
This is the same Supermarket that sold Harry Potter for £5.00

Admin and Mods:-
This is NOT a wind up. Phone up Asda and check.

Anyone know what time they would put them out?

Midnight or some time after.

I've just been on the phone to the manager at the local Asda. He was a bit vague but he told me the price was £279! He also said they 'should' be on the shelves at midnight.

I'm just passing on what I've been told so please don't kill the messenger! ;-)
#14
I'm on nights tonight and will be taking my Credit card with me as we have a couple of 24 hour Asda's in town....

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone can help me...

Would this be ok for just internet surfing and word docs etc, and would it be able to handle downloading from Bitlord whilst surfing at the same time?

I need something as im off to uni again soon, I wont be playing games on it either. I have a separate external hard drive to save everything on it and I am hoping to set up a wireless network at home too.

Finally, would it be worth upgrading the RAM to 2G one day?

£279, or £179..... Quite a difference......
#21
Think this is the laptop, found on amazon. Contains reviews etc

Yes approx £100 :p
#25
£309.92 delivered from Laptops Direct with 3% off that for Quidco....
#26
£179 would be a nice deal for a spare laptop, but not really such a great deal if it is £279. The spec is ok-ish but Vista will run like a snail with 512MB RAM so i'd suggest upgrading to 1GB.

Agreed, hot for £179, not so hot for £279. Don't think I'd get that past the missus.
#28
for £179, you have plenty of cash left to buy the ram for it.
#29
just foned up my local store there £275 but they sold all theres earlier by accident :(
#30
179 / 275 / 279

someone must be right:roll:
#31
279 is not bad as 275 is sold out :)))))
#32
I just telephoned my local Asda 'ULL' and spoke to a female who said, "I don't know my manager has gone home!!!"....
#33
Asda told me £179 then its goin up to £279 ....... he said they r refurb
#34
They are definitely £275 and they are on sale now......
#35
i reckon this is another wild goose chase!

dinosteveus can you tell us which store your friend works for and we can then ring the store directly to confirm if this offer is true.

if the store your friend works for says it aint an offer/or a nationwide offer it will stop everyone from going on a wild goose chase for no reason.
#36
Acer laptops are generally of sturdy build although not as robust as the IBM ones (but still pretty good)! For £179, this is a very hawwwt deal! Thanks to the OP...

That's a shame, not a good price for a refurb with that spec at all,

Steve
#38
I have it on good authority its £275, only 10 per store according to sales assistant.
#39
I've contacted 3 stores in nottingham and have been told £279 as they're trying to compete with tesco's who is selling a similar one for about £300. At £179 it was a bargain but at £279 it's about the right price give or take £20.:)
