This is a great deal for a 13" notebook... does it have an optical drive?

No optical drive as far as I can make out.
So no point in buying the windows 7 upgrade disk imo.

A tad misleading to even mention Core i3 in the title especially as "predecessor" scans as "processor" at first glance; got me all excited for no reason. :|

Seems pretty decent spec though, so no need to pull tricks like that.

If i find an old computer from circa 10 years ago with a P4 chip... can i write Intel Core i7 predecessor?

Ahhh im afraid not, see definition of predecessor below:

pred·e·ces·sor/ˈpredəˌsesər/Noun
1. A person who held a job or office before the current holder.
2. A thing followed or replaced by anothe

so that would technically be wrong

No need for that, I agree why not just say what it is, not what it isnt.

This has got nothing to do with Core i3 so please update the title! This is a pretty fast C2D cpu - just need to upgrade to Windows 7 to make a great laptop.

OP has just copied and pasted the title from deal of the week. So if you want to complain go send saveonlaptops an e-mail. They can still change the title though. But yea, it also caught me out too! :( Still a good deal.

Good laptop if you have an external DVD drive. Nice specs for the price (except vista). Have some heat.

Thank for changing the title.
I says nothing about the Optical Drive on SaveonLaptops but the Acer website shows the system do have an optical drive

for me neither hot nor cold :p
this has been on their website for a while now. i considered it, but lack of HDMI kills it for me.

I really love the finish of the palmrest on this one. Defies Acer's budget reputation, but I guess it's business class, not a consumer cheapo.

Thanks for posting, worth considering!

Or would it? Did either of those definitions state 'immediately'? A P4 was (eventually) followed by the i3. In the same way, all the presidents of the USA before Obama are 'his predecessors'.
