Whilst I'm not denying the dealyness of this deal, be aware that Acer laptops are mostly made of paper and old shoes. That is: They're not the greatest or most reliable laptops in the world.

I perfer acers to dell laptops, dell laptops are made of old shoes haha

its a decent xmas present for any1 who is looking for a laptop

I've had an acer for about a year now and its been a great laptop.
The viewing angle on the screen isnt the best but its been reliable.
I wouldnt touch a dell again. Didnt like the build quality and having to remove the keyboard to upgrade the ram is a pain.. newer ones maybe dont do that..

I voted cold as this is available from Comet for £299. I just got one and put another 1GB stick of Ram for £17. Runs nice and fast now for my daughter's Xmas pressie.

Even better, Play.com do it for the same price but theirs is a better model having a webcam and Vista Home Premium as opposed to Basic.

So, sorry for the cold vote but £50 is quite a lot really.

If you read the spec properly splinters you would see that it is vista premium and it does have a built in webcam with it.

You nutter!!!!

Also the one that is on comet is a lower spec than the one on amazon so this is a great deal.

Seems to me the only difference in the spec is that the Comet model has an 80GB hdd, as opposed to the 120GB you get at Amazon. Which isn't really worth an extra £50.

Still, it's not a bad deal either way.

Ok, I did not read the spec but, in my defence, the Play one is the same spec as this but the same price as the comet one at £299. So, still £50 there.

Also, this laptop has only two Ram slots so if it does have two 512mb sticks in you would have to ditch them and buy two 1gb sticks to make a 2gb machine. The Comet one has a 1gb stick in...not sure about Play.com though.

You would need 2gb to run the Aero features on this well enough and I bought this for my 'young' daughter so didn't really want her to have a webcam.

So, £50 extra for Aero and a webcam but limited RAm expansion on this one, or this same laptop at Play for £299. I stand by what I first said...sorry Dragonfly, not a bad deal ..but not a great one.

vista premium is alot different to vista basic u get more for ur money so it is worth while paying the extra 50 quid for the bigger hard drive and the better windows package.

NP splinters i say for the price of the laptop and what u get its a good deal for me anyways
