Can you still trade in an old computer against this? I think the DSG group give you "£!00 trade-in" against new puters...?
banned#3
You ****** :p Was just about to submit this.

According to Google Shopping, Tesco were doing them at this price but doesn't even show on their site any more. £348 at Acer Direct. Not the best spec in the world, but a basic lappy for notebook money isn't bad.

Does anyone know if this is a good deal? I am looking for a basic laptop for my son to surf the web with.

It's better to put more info in the title e.g.

It's a cracking laptop there will be someone along very shortly telling you oh no don't buy it it's a Celeron it's slow but it's not really one as it's based on the 45nm Penryn core and a very capable CPU and a better option than a small form factor netbook with an Atom CPU and more importantly your son will be over the moon.

Sorry dude - got an email and thought I'd have to be quick to beat anyone else.

Which is part of the reason I forgot to add a proper title.

Add something to take above £300 and go through quidco to get 3% cashback and 3% off checkout price with DROP3 code via quidco

edit it actually takes £8.97 off with DROP3 on the basket value of £299 so need to add anything else

Thanks dontasciime. I am completely baffled, with what to get. My son is Autistic and spends most of his spare time surfing the web. He gets very frustrated if he has to waite and can get quite rough with my netbook. I really need something that is fast and durable. He doesn't download anything and doesn't really need a dvd drive. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am a complete novice when it comes to things like this and would be really grateful for advice! :)

Some might tell you that acer build is not that good but tbh start bashing any laptop and it's gonna break faster than if you took care of it My acers are 3 years old and spotless and in full working order...

In your circumstance I believe any laptop may suffer from heavy handedness but only you how heavy. I can guess and advise a purchase based on normal careful use. I hope you understand what I am saying in that I mean it to only sound informative rather than patronising or judgmental.

I would rather have the Acer as it's got 1 gig more ram [3gb] (the lenovo has got 2gb) but has got a 320 gig hdd though opposed to the 250Gb Hdd in the acer but still the Acer would be my choice for me.. 250gb is plenty of storage

Thank you again dontasciime :D

use drop3 voucher code via quidco though and the total price after they take of 2 lots of £8.97 off should effectively get you or anyone else the laptop for £281.06 after cashback has been paid or £290.03 at checkout first

I've got one of these although mine is 4Gb Ram, 320Gb HDD, and T3000 processor. I've been very happy with it so far.

Would this perform better than this? - http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/680087/TOSHIBA-T130-16W/tab/specification?cm_ven=AFFILIATEWINDOW&_$ja=tsid:8361|prd:47868&cm_ven=AFFILIATEWINDOW&_$ja=tsid:8361|prd:47868&cm_mmc=AW-_-HotUKDeals-_-links-_-generic

I know it has no optical drive but my lad would like one about that size 13 inch or so. I think the acer would be a better investment myself even though I have an external dvdr already that he could use.

Just wondering if there may be better deals before christmas or go for it.

Fantastic, Thank you. Just what I need for my Daughter.

Got Laptop & Bag deal, added a M215 Mouse and using code DROP3 got it for £321.05 delivered.
Another 3% off tracked through quidco !

All good !

How does this machine compare with the Compaq Presario CQ61-425SA. I have just bought it for £299, should I take it back and get this one? bit of a novice I'm afraid:|

Depends where you bought it from + .. If it's a celeron 900 I would be taking it back and get the Acer instead with T3100
