Send it back as it's not fit for purpose (IE being a portable machne) as defined under the sales of goods act 1979.

However!

If you left the machine plugged into the mains with the battery still for an extended period of time then this is why the battery no longer works.

Also do not buy this machine as its an AMD for this price you can get yourself a much faster dual core intel, unless you really want b-ray.

Hi Renagade27,
I have not changed the battery yet. I had fired off an email to cdiscount asking me my money back. just now got back a response. Cdiscount is asking me to contact the seller acer for this under the one year warranty. although if acer comes out that battery was not included in warranty then cdiscount wouldnot be able to help, if acer says that battery was included in warranty and acer itself cannot provide me new battery then cdiscount would refund me my full monies. Tried to contact acer but they were closed. i will contact them tomorrow.

Thanks Metronome, its interesting let me dig around a bit into that and i will probably able to use this act to get a refund or a new battery.

My conclusion is that yes, i do put the power lead to my laptop most of the time in a day. However, I had used HP, Toshiba and Sony laptops before and never in the past 7 years a battery had dried up this fast. I dont think in 90*12 hours a laptop had gone through enough of its charge/discharge cycles to say bye bye..........moreover, i seldom use my laptop in the weekends(so no direct connection to power lead)......also got a laptop from work which serves my purpose on some occassions on the weekdays.....

Thanks for your input guys.
Baldude.

i would have thought core2duo is better than dual core. Because dual core processors need more power than core2duo while performance being the same. But say for the same 4400mah battery charge, if dual core machine lasts 1 hour, core2duo machine lasts more than 2.5 hours approx....so even if core2duo is a little expensive it helps you dont need to keep searching for teh power port all the tiem.

Dual core is a catagory of processors while core 2 duo is a manufacturers range of processors, all core 2 duos are in fact dual-core processors since that's what the duo part of their name indicates. (Quad core ones are named Core 2 Quad)

Perhaps you've got it confused with a different dual-core processor such as the Pentium dual-core range or the AMD Turion X2 range?

It's up to Cdiscount to replace/refund, not Acer. Your contract is with whoever sells you the goods, not the manufacturer. Sounds like Cdiscount are palming you off.

Does anyone know if this has HDMI or not so that the blu-ray can be used on a HD telly?
