#5
Does it have HDMI?
#6
very nice spec for £300, weight seems a bit much at 4.19kg though :-D,i would guess the real weight is around 2.7kg for a lappy like this

This looks very interesting but I have just found this link which might have to be considered
http://www.techsupportforum.co.uk/f9/acer-aspire-5535-crash-problem-t1388/

It claims that there are problems with Vista. But this could be resolved with 7 as it seems to be fine with XP

i've been searching for a good sub £300 laptop and this looks like a good one!

it doesnt appear to have blue tooth? i can live without it.

the thing that confuses me about modern computers/laptops is that the OS will come preinstalled? will it come with the OS disc too?

if not and bearing in mind the 1st thing i would do would be to want a clean fresh install to get rid of all the crap that will be on the HD, how do i do it?

can i put my original copy of XP on this? the one i already run on my desktop?

thank you.

Are Acer laptops still rubbish? I know they make decent enough netbooks but every acer laptop ive ever seen has been ugly, badly thought out, heavy and gimmicky

This link refers to the laptop crashing. I have one of these and it did indeed crash when i had it first but a quick Google and update the bios and it works great now. Does every thing I want it to do for general use.

I think i'll wait till some native win 7 posts, seems silly as todays the release day to go without / pay more

I have an acer this last 3 years and no problems whatsoever. People jump on the bandwagon of cheap = poor quality and are brand snobs. (acer is the budget level for Sony ! )As the old saying goes fools and their money are easy parted.

Great deal, thanks Chunk!

Just flagged it to my Dad who's looking for a lappy this week. I've been using one of these everyday for 10 months with no probs, cracking little machine, I've been really pleased with mine & I paid £50 more for it - gah!

I've ordered the currys acer deal too. So anyone got any opinions on which one is a better deal.

Puppygirl, when your dad said he was looking for a lappy, he may have been referring to something completely different !
#27
Whey hey!

I say, that's my Father you're talking about, happily married to my dear Mother for over 45 years :x

They're quite good. I personally like HP laptops, but I have an Acer desktop which is serving me very well. Its the quietest desktop I've ever owned.

I wouldn't have a problem buying this.
#33
is this eligible for a windows 7 upgrade from acer?
#34
Yes, it is showing out of stock but you only find out when you try to pay for it.:x
#35
Seems like the offer has finished. If you search for 'ACER ASPIRE 5535' shows the laptop as £399.99
so I missed out BooHoo.

edit the one you find is slightly different. it is 0.1Ghz quicker so has a diff argos code 507/0671
